Rate the last movie you saw

I saw Adaptation yesterday for the first time. Not sure why I never saw it, because it has Nic Cage and is written by the same guy who did Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It took a minute for me to realize what it was, but it was pretty awesome. You get two Nic Cages for the price of 1

Super unique movie that would probably never get made today, as it is very meta and isn't super mainstream.

Nicholas Hoult? Best Lex Luther ever.
Edi Gathegi? Great introduction as Mr. Terrific.
David Corenswet? Perfect casting in the mold I would expect from James Gunn. And perfect for this movie.
The actor playing Pa Kent? Total screen time was small but I will say he was the best Jonathan Kent. Dude played Clark's father figure to a T.

Action was great. CGI was superb. The movie was entertaining from start to finish BUT I did not get overly hyped until after the Clark's trip back to the farm scene. I *think* that was about the first 80-90 minutes.

After that? Fan freaking tastic. Perhaps the best Superman film to date from that moment on.

Oh. I would say Nathan Fillion nailed Guy Gardner. Guy was a real jerk. Bullseye.

My one main problem was the fact I knew exactly who (or someone similar) was behind the bad guy's full head mask within the first three minutes of his appearance. It made total sense. Glad Gunn went that route, but I will not be surprised if Superman comic book fans do not figure it out just as quickly. Knowing it does not spoil the movie. It was just a little too much Captain Obvious.

Gunn has set an extremely good cornerstone for the new DCU. Way different from Zack Snyder's. And the audience gets a sneak peak where franchise is going before the end credits start rolling. That was something I liked. It was different from how the MCU movies provide teasers with embedded end credits scenes.

There is only a single end credits scene, located at the very end of everything. Cute. Just casually goofing off but I liked it, lol.

Edit: Man of Steel received a huge criticism for a certain action. I will be interested seeing whether or not this movie gets the same reaction. I extremely doubt it but who knows.

I finally saw Bullet Train (with Brad Pitt) the other day after a recommendation from my son. Why didn't I know about this movie before? It was hilarious!

It was a busy mess in parts, but a mess that was part of the context if that makes sense. Still a very good movie and well worth seeing in theaters.

Been a few years since I watched this one.
Really forgot how much I liked this one.



If you like the other Tyler Perry Madea movies, you will like this one.
All the regular characters acting crazy.



For some reason this is usually given a good rating and people suggesting it as one of those hidden gems. Frankly It was too monotone, slow and boring until the last few minutes of the movie.

I think my nitpick tops yours. Just kidding.

Jesse Eisenberg has really taken it on the chin, but he did not set my Luther bar. In my opinion, Nicholas Hoult's Lex was better than Michael Rosenbaum, Kevin Spacey, the late great Gene Hackman, etc. I think he has best captured the visceral malevolence Luther holds for Kal-El.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane yet. I liked her, but I will not nitpick. Yet.

i didn't think so.
if you are a fan of the comics...you'll love it.
it reminded me of some of those comic stories when i was a kid.
over the top...superman in danger type stories.
only in metropolis,man.
but its not campy...but serious.
excellent movie.

i dont get that.
as a fan of superman...it was the ultimate.
•best movie version of superman.
•best movie clark kent.
•best gen zod...i mean he scared me...i really believed that was zod...like ledgers joker...i mean i had to remind myself it was only a movie.
that dude scared me.
•arguably best fortress of solitude.
•best suit.
•best flight sequences...although this new one challenges it.
•best film score...the music was a character in this movie.
•best story
•russell crowe is superman's dad.
no....i mean in real life....that was great stuff in that movie.

my favorite thing tho was superman as a lonesome drifter...roustabout type trying to find his way.
that scene when he's thumbin' for a ride...the first time i saw it...gave me chills i thought it was so cool.
just a random scene...but man it nailed me.
the entire movie was like that.
henry cavill IS superman to me.
always will be.

then again,i think im the only one who still loves superman returns and wishes it had a sequel.
just as i wish cavill had gotten a stand alone man of steel II...maybe titled man of tomorrow.

the justice league stuff was too soon.
dc should stick with stand-alones that feature "guest appearances"....teasers.

I wish Christopher Nolan had been the director of Man of Steel instead of Zack Snyder--despite the fact I enjoyed Snyder's version. Perhaps then Warner Bros would have given Nolan the green light to oversee (or at least start) a DCU as he saw it. Maybe audiences would have gotten a Man of Steel trifecta similar to his Dark Knight trilogy.

And absolutely agreed on Hoult's Luthor. That performance showing the hatred/malevolence was the best live action adaptation of the character. Rosenbaum was second. I think Hoult was inspired most by Rosenbaum.

I just felt that Snyder didn't truly understand the character fully. Or his hands were tied too much. I'm not sure which. While Man of Steel was mercifully free of camp, it took itself way too seriously and there was zero hope and what made Super-man Super in the first place. That's no knock on Cavill. He did good with what he had.

This new one though? *chef's kiss* Both the writer/director and the actor nailed it. The entire tone of the movie showed what was Man of Steel was lacking.
