Raiders still have plenty of CAP left. They wont let him go for cheap, worse case scenario, he plays and re-establishes his value. The Ravens will get Hendrickson and Jerry's got the 'out' of the medical.

I wouldn't count the Eagles out on this.
If the price drops (which it will) the Eagles could offer their first and the comp 3rd this year, then ac3rd next year ( they will likely her awarded a comp 3rd for Phillips).
That may end up a solid offer for the Raiders.
The Eahles can restructure or extend him to get his cap number under 10, and would still have their 2nd and the Kets 3rd for TE and Safety.
Imagine Crosby on that line with Carter.

If they wanted a pass rusher why not just pay Phillips and keep the picks? I think the eagles are atoning for all the contract shenanigans the past few years. Indy see them as players in this case.

No. It’s hearsay. That’s what opinions are until hard evidence comes to light. I could lean that direction as an opinion. I would not be surprised if it was proven true. Did the Ravens come out publicly and announce they backed out of the trade due to “cold feet?” No. That is why that portion is not KNOWN.

Also, what if the issue is not when he returns, but more to do with what his body will be like when fully healthy (but with previous injury)? Football functional ability percentage and the probability that he may lose a significant percentage even after recovery? What if a discussion with a medical provider indicated a much higher likelihood that he loses speed, power, and quickness in lateral movements that give him the ability to close on the QB when he gets to the edge of the offensive lineman?

True. But age has nothing to do with the risk. There were significant questions whether Smith’s nerve damage would fully recover. Add that he automatically was a 1-year redshirt on a player controlled for 4 years. Drafting Smith was dumb, very dumb.

THIS. I'm not sure what Cooper and others found in the MRIs but I'm sure Crosby didn't do his injured knee any favors playing on it for nearly the whole year.
