Maybe and maybe not. Maybe it's just what the doctor ordered. In the phenomenology of witchery where you need the same poision fix, to fix the wound that was poisoned with...
The Ravens being the 32nd ranked pass defense might bode well for Dak and his boys though they're top 3 in run defense so Zeke and the RBs are in for a tough day. But if Dak and CeeDee strafe that pass defense and get out to a 2 score lead that would indeed be just what the doctor ordered because the Ravens would have to go more pass heavy.

.....I really feel our run game will be ok. Just enough to set pass situation. McCarthy needs to get creative a bit.

Yeah it's tough to say if the Ravens run D is that good or they just played the Chiefs and the Raiders neither of whom look all that proficient running the ball. We'll find out Sunday if those teams just suck at running or the Ravens front is just that stout.

I actually like this matchup for the Cowboys defense. Baltimore has speed on the outside, but doesnt have a WR that can really create mismatches. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Cowboys trusted Diggs to play on an island most of the game and played with a heavier box. They have a couple of really good players on that OL, but overall its not a great unit. I also think Overshown is the perfect player to have on the field to help contain Jackson too.

The way Baltimore has built their offense they almost look like Cleveland with a more talented QB on paper, but they have two good TEs and a pretty good FB so they could play a lot of those 2 receiver sets that the Saints killed the Cowboys with last week. That part is going to be an interesting chess match to watch in this game. Zim needs to have a plan A,B, and C in place if they do run a lot of 21 and 12 personnel.
Not sure why you like the matchup for our defense. Baltimore is currently ranked number one on offense and their running game is ranked 7th. Derrick Henry can suck the life out of a defense and Lamar Jackson is 10 times better than Deshaun Watson who doesn’t look like half the player he was in Houston. The Ravens look nothing like Cleveland on offense. The Browns are currently ranked 27th on offense. Plus they aren’t even middle of the pack running the ball. If the Cowboys defense doesn’t play a whole lot better than it did last week, the Ravens will move up and down the field and we could be looking at another embarrassing debacle. Jackson could make our defense look silly running circles around us. The Cowboys better come in pissed off and ready to play.

pretty much any team is the wrong team to face after a beat down like Dallas got on Sunday.

confidence will be low and some guys might be playing a little scared, worried about giving up the big play, or over compensating.

This is the wrong team to face this week. With the power of Henry and the RPO of Lamar, this could be another long Sunday for us. The one saving grace is that the Ravens haven't really rode Henry in the running game (Don't know why) and Lamar can be very inaccurate at times.
Old washed up Henry is just what the Dr. ordered to get the defense back on track!

Dallas’s-line is in shambles right now…if they could stop Kamara and company; I’m wondering how they age going to fare against Henry and Jackson. It would be a bit poetic if Henry hangs 100 yards on the Dallas defense since Jerry didn’t think it prudent to acquire him since “we like our guys.”

Or this game could be where they figure some things out on defense.
Honestly Rocky I think the whole thing is pretty easy to figure out.
We either need somebody talented enough or downright mean enough to hold their ground in the middle of our defensive line.
My goodness Jordan Phillips is like a 350 lb pinball getting thrown around like a high school kid out there. Linville Joseph is old and washed up even if we would have kept Hankins that would have given us a little something.

Honestly if I'm Zimmer I feel handcuffed with a combination of low effort and minimum talent at defensive tackle and at this stage of the season it's a very difficult thing for anybody to fix could have been dealt with much better in free agency.

We have a 60 mil QB and we're at home.....they should be worried especially after losing at home to the Raiders.
If you go with that , we are not going anywhere. It’s up to the rest of the team also. 60M is not equal Mahomes like elite QB , it’s Jerry stupidity

Yep Ronnie if we could win the coin toss and take that ball down and score with a nice methodical drive to make them play from behind it's sure couldn't hurt.

But conversely if they win the toss and commit to the running game punching Us in the mouth taking six or seven minutes off the clock and running the ball in we will be demoralized and the snowball will start rolling down the hill.

If we return to offense jump off sides get some other kind of penalty and go three and out all bets are off it'll just get worse from there.
But I agree if we can get out front fast somehow we got to puncher's chance of making them make enough mistakes to squeak by them

I just like the individual matchups. Their Guards are both JAGs, Patrick Mekari is a guy that I think you can great mismatches on so this should be an easier game in the trenches than it was last week. Similar to Cleveland in that they have a couple good OL, but as a whole that unit seems very beatable. I feel comfortable with Diggs manned up on any other their receivers which can free up a safety to help in the box. They only have 1 completed pass over 20 yards this year, just 22 all of last year as well. Again like Cleveland its just not a team that is a major threat for the quick strike so I think Zim can play more aggressive on defense in run protection if he elects to. You're right they have racked up the yards so far, but its not translating into points as they are 17th in the league in ppg. I think the Cowboys have the speed on defense to contain Jackson, the big question is can they stop Henry on occasion? Hes going to get his, but I'm expecting the Ravens to have to put together some of those long 10+ play drives in order to get points. If the Cowboys can draw the occasional holding flag or simply force some 3rd and long plays this defense should be able to get off the field. If the front seven just doesnt show up again this week then yeah it'll be another loooong game for the Cowboys, but if it is another no show then we might as well just start talking about 2025.

good

rooting for 1-16 this season
Why? With the Dak extension, going 1-16 will mean nothing imo. You want to go 1-16 to get the best QB. Now with these latest extensions tanking is no longer an option for 3 years. Talking s*** about Dak is meaningless. Now you can only hope for the best outcome possible.

The matchup between our defense and Lamar Jackson and Henry is what concerns me. That’s not a good matchup for us. Henry can really wear on a defense. We’ve struggled against mobile QBs and they don’t get more mobile than Jackson. I’ll be convinced we can contain Jackson when I see it. Their number one offense is going to be a real test against our defense that’s still licking its wounds after last week. We just better hope we get the best version of our defense on Sunday and not the garbage unit we saw last week.

It’s a piss poor situation for sure. And Mazi, the only one that had at least a few positive plays, left practice today. Haven’t heard an update on him, but regardless they need improvement. And like you spelled out very well, at this point in the season it’s hard to fix. The only thing they could possible do is trade for a legitimate DT.

I really don't understand why they didn't keep Hankins
Although not the final solution by any means the guy was very serviceable and made a difference in our defensive line he's only getting around 2 million from Seattle pretty much the same thing we're paying Linville Joseph.

I don't envy Zimmer's position he's got a hard way to go to try and fix this with very little to work with.
At this point about the only thing you could do is scour the practice squads and find somebody with the attitude that wants to at least sacrifice their body for a chance to get paid

Need a big strong guy with some attitude that refuses to get pushed around somebody mean enough that takes it personal

It is a good matchup for the defense because Baltimore doesn't use all the misdirection and creativity that always kills them - plus, they can't get vertical in the passing game.

They're built the same way as Cleveland, Lamar just has better legs. That's a big difference, of course, but they function the same way. And Baltimore's offensive line has been pretty poor.

Good point. And McClay knows about all those players. That would be a much cheaper way to address the issue although a lesser chance of success.

We get tortured by mobile QBs. And have we ever beaten the Ravens?

I think this is a blowout. Be ready for the boo birds.

Lot of people said the same thing about the Browns.
