Honestly don't believe Baltimore has actually received legitimately interested calls for #17. Like many have mentioned, it's lip service to create interest. We will undoubtedly be in touch with many teams about moving up, down and sideways. Doesn't mean a deal gets done.

Personally I'm hoping for a trade down that nets us an extra Day 2 pick. Whether that's SF's #2 or a team in the 20's #3.

I don't think it's lip service. Pat Kirwan does a bit every week with our local ESPN affilliate and basically said this is exactly how things worked. Generally, they would split the league into guys that each particular member of the draft team had good ties with....fr example Pat might be tight with Pats, Dolphins, Rams, Eagles and Packers GM. They would discuss interest leading up to the draft and discuss general compensation at different spots. You have to be prepared because there is not a lot of time when you are on the clock and teams start calling.

I also would like to see a trade down, getting a second or third in the process. I think we have plenty of holes to fill and there is a lot of talent in the mid rounds.

Exactly what the guys from Talking Cowboys said.

Don't believe the hype.

Yeah, Newsome was pretty vocal about this yesterday...so basically telling the league that pick is open for business and that there is a lot of interest... maybe creating some competition.
Plus, I think they are missing pick this year and Newsome can't stand that due to his ability to find some keepers later in the draft.

This sounds more like it.

Advertising that they want to trade their pick.

Sounds like Ozzie is trying to stir some things up here. Basically telling the league that his pick is for sale.

If there was something significant going on behind the scene, I highly doubt Ozzie would be broadcasting it to every member of the media a week before the draft.
