I was listening to Sirius last night and Ray had some fighting words for Colombo. He said that he didn't respect Colombo at all. If this doesn't motivate Colombo to regain his form I don't know what will. Did any one else here this? DC do you have audio of this?

I wouldn't have respect for a tackle I was playing against either if that taackle had a broken leg.

Tell Ray to call me when he reaches double digit sacks in a season. Until then, he hasn't earned any respect either.

If a player actually needs some comment from someone else to make you take pride in your job and to drive you to be the best you can be, then I don't want that kind of player on my team...... Columbo certainly isn't one of those type of players and I don't think he gives a damn what Ray Edwards or anyone else has to say..

Every player use slights or perceived slights all the time. Good luck filling out your roster.

Randy Moss or Jay Ratliff, anyone?

Agreed 100%, AB.

If anyone on this team cares, it's probably Colombo. He plays with a nastiness on the field. My guess is come Oct. 17th, if Colombo is starting, I suspect Ray Edwards is going to get pancaked. Probably more than once.

cool.

I have a question, why was he talking about columbo.

other teams players are always commenting about the cowboys players.

Babe laufenberg asked demarcus ware the other night if he doesnt like being back to the role of favorites this year because they did well with the us against the world thing....He responed that we are the cowboys everybody wants us and it is always us against the world.

it seems everyday there is a player or coach from another team who has some form of comment or insult about the team or individual players.

oh and I dont recall edwards doing anything at texas stadium in 07 versus columbo. I cant even remember if he was on the team in 07. Its pretty low to call out a guy who you just pushed around who was coming back from a broken ankle.

I didn't catch the full segment I just heard the comments and thought he is writing checks because he took advantage of a player that should not have been playing. I am hoping that Colombo can bounce back because we are a better team with a healthy productive Colombo then without.

agreed.

All I know is some of the players spoke their mind in the locker room and even todd grantham who was leaving the team spoke his mind on the end of that vikings game.

I get the feeling, nothing could add to what they are already going to be like when they step on that field.

But I love this.

I asked DC to get the link to anotonio smith..I think that is who it was.....anyway the fan last week were playing these clips from him on a local radio station in san antonio or houston not sure which.....in the sound bites he was going on and on about how people are sick of romo and how they (houston) are going to get him.

it will all be useful. Anyone who thinks pro athletes dont need this stuff to get ready is not paying attention. IMO, emotion wins most of the games we watch and it is the element of the nfl that cant be statisticaly analyzed or broken down. And alot of it is generated by the athletes in todays nfl feeling disrespected. I think it means alot, these guys have everything in the world so when someone disrespects them that is when we see them at their full attention.

All you have to do is go back to last december and watch the saints game. The media and the fans said we had no chance and that we stunk etc....the saints players and writers were hinting at a blowout again and resting players....

Emotion is huge in pro football and one way to spark that emotion is to call someone out and insult them.

Jimmy Johnson was constantly finding any slight by any other team or player to try and motivate the cowboys during his run. He would find any kind of situation to keep the players and team motivated. I believe it was Troy who said towards the end he had did it so often that it did not have the same impact as it used to but this was also a team that was winning superbowls and had three HOF playing together on offense so I don't think anything was bad about it one way or the other.

Just saying that this is a tried and true way among coaches and players to find any insults towards them or their team as a motivating factor. Even if they are the best player in the NFL, any extra motivation against another player or team will motivate them even more. To shut that other player or team up.

Nice! I guess Ray's head got swollen.... I'm actually glad he is talking smack it's not like Colombo wasn't looking for a little pay back to begin with. Heck the whole O-line will want to bury them.

I'm thinking a year off the performance enhancers for the Williams crew will see there production drop significantly this season. The Williams Wall is due to crumble this season mark it! Pat Williams in-particular, at 37 years old will see his play drop off the most (post enhancer) and he was key to there seller run D.

Can't wait till we play the Vikings again. And I'm glad we play them on there home field again. A win there would give the team a lot of confidence the rest of the season.

You don't even have to go back to Jimmy Johnson's days.

How about last year and Tony Dungy's "No Chance against N.O." comments?

Coaches do whatever it takes to get these guys going on Sundays. So if Ray Edwards said something about Colombo then I hope Colombo tears him a new one come game time.

To be 37 and play in the trenches without anything to heal the body quicker, the Pat Williams probably won't even finish the year.

After the whoopin Columbo took, he needs to dominate this guy when they play again. That game was just a sour experience.

Could not have said it better. Colombo is a prideful player and I would gladly take a 53 man roster with players with his same mentality. I am just concern that he can't bounce back because his body has already taken a ton of abuse.

On the bright side, it is still early in training camp and we get to see him against a pretty good bongle's defense. I know who I will be focusing on for the few series that he is in there.

that is also a parcells-belichick-coughlin staple of operation.

this is why I hate all those superbowl favorites and superbowl declarations by the national media. Its the fodder every other team will use when motivating their locker room when they play us.

I can only imagine how easy it is to fire up a locker room the week they play us. Last years vikings game was a perfect example.

Dallas was the road team underdog who just played a game.
Minnesota was the home team favorite coming off the bye.

what happened?

the national media spent the week telling everyone how great Dallas was and how minnesota would lose. Those guys used all that crap and took the actual situation and twisted themselves into the underdog. I still to this moment am irritated how that played out and how stupid it is.

The overblown brad childress let his true feelings out after the game, saying all that crap about how they heard the big bad southern tazmanian devil was coming to blow through the city of minnesota.....

there are a couple of games where we get to be in that role this year. the two giants games and the vikings game. Wade phillips is never given the luxury of being the underdog even when he actually is like in minnesota last year and I think it is harder to coach as the favorite, especially in today nfl.

I cant wait for that vikings game. Favre had better be back and healthy that day.

I think Favre is going to miss his first game this year. I have a feeling a lot of D lines are going to be sniping him. I don't think his body is going to be able to handle the beating day in and day out. Look back at how bad the Saints beat him up. I think that will be common place this year.

Wade has a hidden anger level that simmers himself. Don't short his pickup on that and it will sit in his memory banks as well. He attempts to stand by his players and he is well aware of the real weakness of an injury involved with the foot joint itself and a break above. That just pulls the stability completely out of the foot and a player can actually and without outside force, collapse from the misfunction of that foot. Wonder how hard it is to take advantage of such a player with a fast and area covering type of power or swing move? Not much...and that feeling of being physically unable to respond in a massive and powerful move that he is fully capable of performing will remain on the backburner of Colombo approaching all of this next season. What Edwards haphazardly and really ignorant of those remarks coming back to slap him and his team, will just have a rondevou with destiny now. Don't worry, at some point in the approaching Minnesota regular season game, Marc Colombo will wipe his smiley face off the turf and plant it back with him on top. THAT's just who COLOMBO is!

I agree.

I hope he IS playing, though and Brooking, Ware, Spencer and Ratliff all remember what a classless piece of **** he was at the end of that game last season.

I hope the beating that ***** takes is ten times what he experienced in New Orleans.
