Wow...I can't believe what I just heard...

Joe Flacco was amazing in the Ravens run to a Super Bowl win in 2012. Flacco was Super Bowl XLVII's MVP, concluding a postseason run in which he tied Joe Montana's single postseason record for touchdown passes (11) without an interception.

Let's remember their playoff run:
They beat Denver 38-35 in AFC Title Game
They beat Niners 34-31 Super Bowl

This wasn't a Ravens team being carried along by it's defense. The win in Denver...in single-digit temperatures featured a game-tying throw that ESPN analyst and former quarterback Ron Jaworski said, "was certainly one of the most remarkable throws in Ravens history and one of the best throws I've ever seen.

Flacco is the only quarterback in NFL history to win a playoff game in each of his first five seasons.

So what does Lewis say when asked what currently ails the Ravens?
Is it the lack of talent on the offensive line or the unit's injuries? Nope
Is the issue the lack of health with a unit that's been shell-shocked? Nada
Is the problem the obvious fading and slowing of 37-year old Steve Smith? Nah
Is it the lack of drafting any youthful playmakers over the past 8 years? Course not.

No...Ray Lewis throws former teammate Flacco under the bus, based on the fact that the obviously introverted player "lacks passion."

I hate Ray. He's correct.

The ravens lucked out beating Denver to get to the big dance on a gamble by Denver's safety, IMO.

But....thats how it goes in playoff games........

ehhh...Flacco's been pretty pedestrian throughout his career.

And yes Flacco experienced a lot of success early in his career, but that had more to do with the running game and defense than him. When he finally got it together, they won a ring.

He's like a poor man's Eli Manning....and that aint a compliment.

Another teammate from that team Bart Scott was all over Ray on this one, describing it as pure betrayal. Baltimore media is ablaze.

All this craziness could just make tomorrow's game "The Passion Bowl".

Actually, that's how it goes in all games. I have yet to see a SB winner that didn't get some VERY lucky breaks during their SB season. Whether that be lack of injuries, lucky catches, no penalties, etc etc etc.....No team wins a SB without some "good luck" along the way.....

Tho I am confused about Ray's remarks considering he hasnt been with the team in 4 years. Is he still in contact with the players/organization or is he just being a Chatty Patty?

I haven't watched a lot of his games but I suspect Flacco was over-rated early in his career. Now he is under-rated. He has very very little around him in that offense the past few years.

Some guys are just introverted...and probably that is a hindrance if you are a quarterback.

But geesh. You don't measure a guy's heart based on decibels come out of his mouth. Some guys' fire burn outwardly while others fire burns inwardly. Then on top of that...to actually SAY IT about a former teammate.

Ugly. Classless.

Flacco is a scrub and won behind one of the best defenses in history. Who cares what Lewis said, and I watched that interview as it went down. They need to be more worried about their offense in Baltimore than what their best ever defensive player said about their scrub QB.

No disrespect, T, can't stand scrub QBs. And Lewis gets (LOL) hate from casual fans.

Coach Harbaugh played the recording on Friday. He's going to try to rally the troops.

The Passion Bowl begins in 14 hours.

Thanks, Ray.

Now that would be the one downside to Ray's interview.

Ray is a warrior. He'd eat Brute for lunch.

Ray was a very good player and some of his teammates probably did respond to his megalomania.

But below the surface in Baltimore is the the reality of a control freak... a guy that some teammates don't like...and don't respect.

Bart Scott:
“How many times are they going to keep letting Ray Lewis off the hook?” Scott said on the “Gio and Jones” show. That’s brother-on-brother crime right there. He’s supposed to be better than that. He’s supposed to be from the old school. You never come out publicly against one of your boys. Come on, man. You’re killing me.” You got an issue with his leadership skills and all that stuff, you go talk to him. That’s what real men do. You don’t do that. That’s whack right there, Ray.”

I saw that interview recap on Reddit, and yeah, Ray is over the top. But he got two rings on that team (one w Flacco) and is considered the best LB since LT. He had enough cache (IMO) to come out with the heat he did. Scott was a solid player, but he ain't **** compared to Lewis, and he's just trying to get on the media hoopla and gain attention for himself. He was on some show yesterday, some panel show, and it's clear he's trying to get in, and by going after Ray he gets the most attention he can.

Even Flacco brushed off Ray's critiques. Because he has to. Because Ray was the Ravens. Respectfully, T.

For everyone saying Ray is saying this to garner attention after getting the boot from MNF, I say Scott is doing the same to garner attention to open the door.

Ask Ed Reed what he thinks, then I'll listen.

And, again, respectfully, my man, T.

Trouty, Lewis was a legendary player, but there isn't sufficient cred in the entire sport to question a man's heart because of a quiet personality....ESPECIALLY when that player was a teammate that got you a ring.

This has nothing to do with putting two guys on a scale and measuring their respective football careers. This has to do with character assassination...and Ray is guilty. Again.

Flacco has played through about everything...maybe missed one game in his career.

Lewis was Wrong. Wrong. Dead wrong.

Fair enough, T. I respect your opinion and will acquiesce. Perhaps I need to re-think my position. :)
