ESPN has suspended Smith for a week.

LOL, .. one week less than Ray Rice got for punching his fiance's lights out.

Hilarious on the 'Onion', .. it says murdering your wife/girlfriend/fiance is a 4 game suspension.

What is sad/funny/ironic about that Onion statement is the league has faced this type of situation in the past. Rae Carruth conspired to murder his girlfriend. The league never handed down any suspension. Because the courts ended up sentencing Carruth to prison he by default will never play in the NFL again, but the NFL as far as I know never stepped up and laid down a suspension.

Are you serious?

It's because there was no point to one. He was in jail, went on trial, and was found guilty and is in jail for long past the point he'd ever be able to play football again.


Laying down a suspension in that case would have been one of those face palm moments where people would have been like "Uh...what? Who cares. This is just news for the sake of news."
