Ray Sherman not returning

I am fine with it if its Garrett's decision but he needs to be consistent and get rid of other "non-performing" coaches.

If Campo isn't gone, I'll never respect this regime.

How in the heck can our new Head Coach start angering people with his first decision as HC. Why dont the fans give him a chance to put his stamp on the team not what arm chair GM, HC, Owners want to be.

And complaining before they even see who the replacement position coach is.

It is amazing.

Shermans presence most likely threatened Garrett.

if Cowher, Gruden,Fisher , and Harbough didnt threaten Garrett job im thinking Sherman didnt either

Probably makes sense for him. If Garrett wasn't going to give up playcalling duties, he has no room for advancement here.

Precisely. He's earned a better job and he wasn't going to get it here.

Pretty crappy that he's one of the better and most experienced coaches on the roster, and he has no room for advancement here. Sucks to lose him but I guess it's time to move on.

I'm thinking he just got the undivided attention of the receiving group.

has anyone ever taken the viewpoint that maybe garrett didnt like the fact that the wr were constatnly griping in the media and that they go to their coach and gripe all the time.

just two weeks ago garrett called roy williams into his office to let him know barking to the media isnt allowed.

Maybe sherman wasnt strict enough with the players and garrett wants a different voice talking to them.

which leads me to.

John garrett has been a wr coach in the past and maybe he slides over to wr coach. Paul chryst is a tight ends coach who maybe could come here and be oc/ tightends coach...or Paul P could coach tight ends.

or obviously someone who isnt here comes in and coaches tight ends.

and if this is the case and Jason garrett wants a stricter staff who deal with the players differently then more power to him. You cant change things unless you change things.

and no this doesnt mean sherman is a bad coach or I think he is a bad coach because I dont and he isnt. He is a good coach and maybe he just doesnt fit right now.

Do you have a link for a source for this? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just never heard this story and would like to learn more about this.

thx

LOL at this board.

Jerry meddles, then he doesn't, then Garrett needs to step up and assert himself, then Jerry needs to override him, Jerry needs to hire the DC, Garrett needs to hire the DC, Garrett should have say on all of his coaches, then Jerry's a fool for letting Sherman walk....

Ray Sherman has gone from head-coaching candidate with the Dallas Cowboys to out of the organization.

Sherman acwknowledged today that he has been told the Cowboys will not offer him a new contract. Sherman had served as wide-receivers coach for the last four years, and his contract was about to expire.

Sherman had no comment on the decision by head coach Jason Garrett. He brought Sherman into the organizaton.

Who is "he"? Is he saying Garrett brought Sherman into the organization? Is that true? I thought I read Wade brought him in.

It's just like the media posts on twitter.

We're nothing if not contradictory. :)

i like Sherman ok, but i dont get the undying love for the guy....other than Miles can anyone name another WR that we have developed since Sherman got here? and even he had a ton of drops this season...and dont say Dez he was this good in college...i dont wish to lose Sherman but i wont cry either maybe garrett is tired of dropped balls, poor routes and seeing no improvement with guys like Hurd, Ogletree, and Holley

I have been thinking the same thing or Ray Sherman just wants to move forward elsewhere riding on the momentum of the HC interview.

Gee, I wonder if Garrett has a better idea of whether or not Sherman is the best man for the job than all the goobs on this forum?

Roy and his big mouth made a comment that the offensive coordinator can make a star out of whoever he wants and leave it at that...

garrett called him in and told him that is no good apparently.

THe best part is williams saying he was taken out of context. Not even man enough to stand up for what he said to the guys face.

I really hope he is out of here.

Williams is a goner for sure IMO. If they hold onto him, its only because they think there;s the slight possibility they could trade him during the draft.

He wont be here once training camp starts.

I know, I have been watching football for 40 years and I don't have a clue how to evaluate staff to even know if this is a good or bad move. I'd like to know how so many people can be so emphatic in their certainty that this is a bad move.

What I want and hope we have is competent people making decisions on both personnel and coaching that isn't swayed by the hysteria coming from the overwhelming majority of fans that don't have the slightest clue about the how to make a good football decision (yours truly might deserve to be at the top of that list).

I won't join pity party for Ray Sherman. Dez Bryant needs to be pushed, not coddled. Doubt Sherman would have been loyal to Jason Garrett.

If anything, Sherman's exit is good sign. It's proof Jerry wasn't just blowing smoke about Garrett having "final say."

People have been railing away at Jones not letting his HC make his own coach decisions, now he makes one and you call it a mistake?.

I don't have a big problem with the decision, but these are two different issues.

If Garrett made the call, great. But people certainly can disagree with it even if it didn't come from Jerry.

Garrett is going to make mistakes. Everyone does and its fair to call him on it.

I don't think this is necessarily one, given the behavior of the WR corps and some key regressions this season, but considering Ray Sherman is extremely well regarded in the league as a WR coach I can see those who are not happy with it. Has nothing to do with who made the decision though.
