RB Fumble Rate

Really? People can have their opinions on Gurley, mine is the guy doesn't have the stamina to be dominant back in the league (Watch how he is after 11-12 snaps). But even he is an upgrade to what we have now. Gordon is the absolute best back in this draft class, then there is Coleman in a close second, then Yeldon and Allen. At least, that's my list.

They are not looking for the RB with the best college highlights. They need one that projects to the NFL where there is much less space to run and everybody on defense is faster.

I get the feeling that several people in this thread have watched a lot of game footage of these players; however, I get the feeling that you have not.

Mickey said he saw Gurley today in the hall at VR, said he favored the leg a tiny bit but looked to be walking pretty good.

Then have that "feeling". Really couldn't give a **** less what your feelings are on any subject matter.

I haven't liked Gurley from the start, and this mainly has to do where he is projected. I don't believe he is a first round pick material, this goes along with both injury and his stamina issues (Something I didn't get from highlights).

I can give you a rundown of each player I just mentioned as to why what they do will translate into the NFL.

Given Duke's size (around 5' 9" and 207 lbs.), he seems to hold on to the ball relatively well - at least compared to some of the other "smaller" backs.

Well my pet cat has the best ball control by a huge margin

Bump. Let's not lose sight of which of these guys protect the ball and which don't.

What was Murrays fumble rate last year?

And players can work on protecting the ball...it's not a deal breaker for me...

Peterson had the yips...he fixed it
So did tiki
Murray got better as the season progressed...

It's definitely something that can be changed

Give me Gordon

It's in my op. 1 in 89.8

It would be interesting to see when the fumbles are taking place. Being that there is a lot more option run in the college game, it would be relevant to see if the fumbles are happening on pitches or on zone read plays where the DL or LB are pressing the line where the RB is receiving the ball.

Some of the listed fumble rates are a bit scary, but some context is needed. For example, Marcus Mariota has thrown 14 interceptions in three seasons, but has fumbled 27 times in that span (losing 11 of them). As a point of reference, Mariota has 9 7/8" hands.

I'd love to see this data for past years to compare it to NFL performance.

While I do think it is meaningful I am not sure that it isn't correctable in many cases.

hand size is far less relevant to me than watching them.
demarco murray had no issue with small hands, he simply carried the ball loose and away from his body.

most of these guys on the list are big play guys and they want to carry the ball away from the body to be faster.
if they do that in the pros it is almost always a turnover so they will have to learn to run differently.
can they learn that and be effective? that's the question.

conditions matter too.
how many snow/ice games and freezing cold games did gordon play in compared to guys in the south?
same with abdullah and ajani.

stats in a vacuum are a very dangerous thing.
