Give me Achane, Deuce Vaughn, an excellent FB, and Pollard, and I think Dallas could run a full stable of guys that could produce against any defense. I am just not sure Dallas has the mindset that Andy Reid had when he came to KC a couple years ago.

Achane and Vaughn will not be bell cow backs due to their size, but can be dynamic with the ball in their hands. A FB that can block in space taking the blocking load off the other three backs, and catch the ball would open up lots.

Quick traps/dives, short passes, screens, get the ball to these players in space --- let them do their thing.

Chase Brown or Sen Tucker (though he has some mystery issue that hasn’t been made public yet).

I think Johnson would be a decent #2 back in the NFL but I think he would be underwhelming as a #1. Plus with UT guys, I always assume you are getting 80% of what you think you are getting when you draft them
Currently that's all we need, is a quality #2 back.

I disagree, not with Pollard still here.
Pollard is here for 1 year. If they were going to extend him, it probably would have happened. If we draft a HB that isnt a future #1 in this, then we wasted a strong class. Johnson is a nice guy to take in 6th round and give 150 carries a year

Johnson has low tread, but he isnt that good

1. I think the days of bell cow and #1 backs are largely gone. Teams using multiple RB's is the norm and the more I see, the more it makes sense. Teams basically have two starting RB's that rotate.

2. IMO, speed kills. Getting to the hole quick and being able to turn 5 yard runs into 50 yard runs far outweighs the advantages of being a punishing runner. Even if you break a tackle, if you don't have the speed to exploit it you will just get gang tackled in a few yards.

3. While RB's have short careers and aren't that rare, I still think its an important position. IMO, Zeke really hurt the team last year and left a lot of yards on the table. Having two good RB's would really help the offense.

I suspect that if Bijan is there, Jerry will take him just for splash reasons. Outside of that, Jahmyr Gibbs pops off the tape the most to me. Not sure where he will get taken but I think he will be a legit weapon in the pro's.

IMO, Pollard is on the Schultz plan. One year tag and then let go. I suspect Dallas will draft an RB this year and one next year and that's the right thing to do.

Was thinking about only having Pollard's services for one year as well. Does that mean you take Gibbs if he's on the board @ 26?

I have Johnson as a 4th or 5th rounder. I'd look to him in this range or a WR (I know...not the position of topic) here, since I really like Mingo's tape.

I disagree, think he has potential to become a #1 back and see him more as a 3rd-4th rd prospect. Whomever they draft, year 1 they will become the team's #2 back behind Pollard.

Of course the Cowboys draft show had Robinson fall to us at 26 with several 2nd round prospects picked ahead of us. I tried to defend Ieasha on another thread but she had the Raiders picking Hyatt in the top 10. :rolleyes:

She isn’t that good - I understand the need for diversity of opinion but she is hard to listen to. Never seems sure about anything

I think they like having the option to either replace or re-sign Pollard in 2024.

If Bijan falls to #26 then they'll see him as a 2024 replacement for Pollard.

If they wait until the 3rd or later then they probably want a RB that compliments Pollard's skillset like Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon in Green Bay.

I agree, unless they draft Robinson or maybe Charonnet, they will be looking more for a complementary power back.

Roschon Johnson would be an excellent pick. The only reason hardly non Longhorn fans knows of him ishe played behind Bijan Robinson. If anyone remembers ex Longhorn RB Priest Holmes . He took the NFL by storm. I think he will be really good.

Yeah I really didn't like his tape.
