RB Situation

I would definitely trade Felix for a center better than Costa.

Get revenge against Detroit for the Roy Williams trade. No more than a 2nd or 3rd for Felix.

Tanner: solid goalline back and good in pass protection

Dunbar: more upside and returns kickoffs and punts

That would be incredibly stupid on the cowboys part.

"OH NOOOES! Some team might take our 5th RB! Lets go shallow at one position so we can keep 58 RB's!!!"

If you are pretty certain you can get Danny Coale through to the practice squad, but would lose Lance Dunbar, then doesn't it make more sense to keep Dunbar if you believe both are worthy of a roster spot?

I don't get caught up in a position numbers game. Keep the players you value most.

We have TWO more RBs than we should. That means we're short in other areas. We could have got Olawale on the PS at least. If not, oh well, RBs are easier to find than WRs.

And I like Dunbar and Olawale.

Where exactly are we short? One of the RBs could be taking the place of the third QB, if he's cut. The other, right now, seems to be on the roster instead of a ninth lineman.

So would you like to keep Stephen McGee rather than Lance Dunbar or Ronald Leary over Jamize Olawale?

I think this again is just a reaction based on who fans would have liked kept, but players like Danny Coale, Adrian Hamilton and Orie Lemon were cut from positions where Dallas wasn't short (6 receivers, 9 linebackers — unless Baraka Atkins is among tomorrow's cuts).

For that matter, since we don't know all of the cuts yet, Dunbar and Olawale could still be among those cut.

You're throwing out a bunch of names... you having this conversation with your self or are you actually trying to speak for me? Cuz I sure as **** didn't mention any of those names.

Nevermind, I can see you'd rather rant.

here is my thought on maybe why the went long in RB

Dunbar is your ST guy...kickoffs, punts

Ole is your future fullback who will be a short yardage specialist

next year Vickers and Felix might well be gone but the team won't feel a need to have to replace them and can concentrate on Olineman or what not.

next year the RB 's may look like this

Murray
Tanner
Ole
Dunbar

which gives you 3 potential ST players... which means you could go long next year on the big guys

they might have felt these guys needed a year to learn and didn't feel the chances were great to get them onto the practice squad.

Can't imagine they will keep Dunbar AND Olawale on the 53. Think they're high on Dunbar and view him as a potential replacement for Felix next season, and Olawale is a PS candidate as RB/FB depth.

I don't see how anyone thinks trading Felix Jones is a good idea. A draft pick is not going to help this team this year. Felix Jones can.

yeah but, he'll get hurt and miss 4 to 6 weeks....

epic panicking over things that won't happen.

dallas isn't keeping 6 RBs.
not unless garrett has a super secret wish bone offense ready to break out.

wait til 8 pm tonight before freaking out.

we may well be testing the trade waters with these guys or waiting for other teams RBs to hit the street before seeing whomever we cut get snagged in a heartbeat.

i think dallas likes dunbar, olawale and tanner enough to think they have nfl value for other teams or on our PS.

right... and unproven rookies or 2nd year guys who spent the season injured will get earl campbell like use without any concern over injuries....

felix is here to stay and he will help unless some team wants to overpay for him.

an injured guy showed up fat... big whoop.

So we currently have Murray, Jones, Tanner, Dunbar, Olawale, and Vickers on the team.

Anyone else think Felix is about to get traded? Cuz even if we were to trade Felix, we would still be long at RB, and that's with one of them being able to play RB and FB.

Yes. I've said this numerous times. If the right offer comes along, Felix is gone. (and I will be having a celebration of the occasion at my house)

right, Murray was unproven last year....;)

I have no clue what they are up to. I guess Olwale makes some sense as power-back/H-back/Backup both FB and TE. Dunbar I don't get. If we wanted Cyrus Gray so much and keep all these extra RBs I can't see us keeping Felix at least not after this year.

If there is such a dropoff between a starter and Tanner, then why were we going so long at RB?

Makes no sense.

I don't think they are done with the cuts yet. They have until 8:00 PM tonight I believe.

I think we should trade somebody. I don't think you need more than 3 RBs and we'd still have one extra guy if we trade Felix.

We are major league dummies if we don't get back at least a 3rd for Felix.
That wouild never happen...imo

And after Felix, the only other tradeable RB is Murray. So it's Felix for at most a 4th or nothing.
Not sure that is worth it.

I imagine they just don't know yet which RBs they want to cut. They'll probably go long still and try to keep either Dunbar or Olawale--but they need to figure out the other roster spots first.

Lots of moving parts still guys. I can't imagine the team keeping 6 running backs on the roster.
