As I see it, Pollard and Deuce are locks for the roster. That leaves:

Ronald Jones
Dowdle
Leupke

You can’t view the RB situation in a vacuum. Roster spots will be at a premium. Ronald Jones is suspended for the first two games. I’m not sure how that affects his necessity to be on the initial 53 man roster. My guess is he still has to be in the 53 or be cut.

If that is the case, then I think it’s pretty clear that Jones gets cut. I think we will want to keep Leupke but I think he will get cut and pass through waivers through to the practice squad.

I think most expect Dowdle to be on the 53 man roster, but I could see a scenario where Pollard and Vaughn being the only two kept initially and added back to the practice squad after they clear waivers.

I left off Davis unintentionally, but I think he falls into the same class as the bottom 3 listed above.

I think we're going to pass a lot, there's going to be no balance, a few runs here and there just to say we did it. Get back in that boring shotgun formation as usual and let it rip!!

Dowdle is more of a lock than Vaughn. He clearly separated himself last night as RB2. The Cowboys have started him the past two preseason games. Vaughn will make the team, but he’s currently our fourth back behind Malik Davis who made some plays last night.

We need a pounder, a short yardage back. If it ain't Davis we don't got one. I'll be looking for a player to be brought in soon.

Don’t think they’re going to bring anyone in. Appears the team is entering the season with what they have and see how it goes. If things don’t go well, they’ll give Ronald Jones a try when he’s done with his suspension.

I think a spot comes down to Dowdle vs. Davis, and Dowdle is ahead for that. I do agree with the OP that Vaughn and Pollard are locks. I don't necessarily think that means Vaughn is going to get snaps over whoever wins the No. 2 job, just that they won't risk him to waivers based on how Vaughn has played. I think most likely, based on play so far, they waive Davis and put him on the PS.

I saw the opposite. Dowdle looked like a PSer. Vaughn is a gadget player, and Davis is a 3rd stringer. Scary.

Vaughn is a lock because such a big deal was made of drafting him. However, he only made one play last night and averaged only 2.8 a carry. Jerry will see to it that he makes the team. With Ronald Jones suspended the first couple of games I think the Cowboys hang onto Malik Davis. We may have a committee at RB2. We also have to be prepared in case of an injury, because I don’t think the Cowboys feel confident about having to turn to Vaughan as the primary back if we were to suffer a rash of injuries. Plus Pollard is coming off a serious injury and I’m not sure he’s been a full go at camp yet

Could add someone after week 1 depending on cuts across the league

There's no reason for Jerry to make sure he has made the team. He has shown the skills to get him kept. You may not agree with it, but you seem to have taken a position on him and are dead set on being proven right despite the evidence. I will agree with you that I don't think Dallas feels confident at this point in trusting him to be the primary, but it's not like his draft status is the only thing he has going for him.

I don't think we carry four backs on the 53. I wouldn't consider Davis much of a threat to be grabbed on waivers so I think we'll risk it and then bring him up if there is an injury.

That is such bs. What do you call it, the bs manifesto?

Totally disagree about Vaughn. He has showed up in practice and in games. He is making the team on his own merit.
