Totally disagree about Vaughn. He has showed up in practice and in games. He is making the team on his own merit.
Of course that bs is ridiculous. Can you believe how much time he put into that crap.

You can’t tell much about RBs in practice. He’s made a couple of nice plays in preseason and he’ll be given a chance this season. I think he has shown enough to be given a chance. Even if he were to be on the bubble, Jerry will make sure he makes the 53.

They need to carry 4 RBS not including a fullback so that Pollard and Vaughan are not over used in regular season. Dowdle needs to have as many carries as Pollard in regular season games. Pollard and Vaughan are our weapons for the post season and must be kept fresh.

Dowdle is more of a lock than Vaughn. He clearly separated himself last night as RB2. The Cowboys have started him the past two preseason games. Vaughn will make the team, but he’s currently our fourth back behind Malik Davis who made some plays last night.
Get the hell outta here. Vaughn has already made the team. Thats why he played sparingly.

davis goes to practice squad or gets cut.

Any team that has aspirations of going deep in the playoffs with Dak as the starter better have a great OL and a top 5 run game

There is a reason why Philly has 3-4 real RBs. They understand the limitations of their QB and we dont

I think we're going to pass a lot, there's going to be no balance, a few runs here and there just to say we did it. Get back in that boring shotgun formation as usual and let it rip!!
If that's the offensive game plan then we are doomed.

Because many situations call for one.
This is not a passing league. It's a running and passing league
No its a passing league and these are professional running backs. I don't know when this myth came by that you have to have some Jerome Bettis who can get you 1 or 2 yards on goal line but that is not the case. Teams don't freak out over not having a guy like that. Its not the 90's anymore. You have Tony Pollard. He's your "pounder". Do whatever you want the rest but Pollard is the main guy and should be the guy getting the 3rd and 1 carries. Just because Zeke did it doesn't mean he couldn't do it. That was just Zeke's role.

That is such bs. What do you call it, the bs manifesto?
So a member posts their opinion and to a certain few it has to be BS because it goes against their own opinion and apparently fractures their fragile senses.

As I see it, Pollard and Deuce are locks for the roster. That leaves:

Ronald Jones
Dowdle
Leupke

You can’t view the RB situation in a vacuum. Roster spots will be at a premium. Ronald Jones is suspended for the first two games. I’m not sure how that affects his necessity to be on the initial 53 man roster. My guess is he still has to be in the 53 or be cut.

If that is the case, then I think it’s pretty clear that Jones gets cut. I think we will want to keep Leupke but I think he will get cut and pass through waivers through to the practice squad.

I think most expect Dowdle to be on the 53 man roster, but I could see a scenario where Pollard and Vaughn being the only two kept initially and added back to the practice squad after they clear waivers.
In game 1 scenario. Pollard starts. Dowdle is the change of pace. I don't like Deuce in the screen game... yet. Seems tough for QB's to find him bc of his size. I don't like the floater/jump catch combo. Need to see how he does against real NFL defenses. Dowdle gets his own series or 2 with Deuce as the COP. Week 2 I think it may stay the same as they work in ROJO to have his own series or 2. I can see 3-4 series a game where they sit Pollard or use as the COP. He admittedly cant carry the load full time. Depending on how Deuce fares he may get a solo series also. Deuce definitely has delivered some juice against the scrubs so far. Davis is RB4 week 1. PS week 2.

Pollard - lock for #1 obviously

Dowdle - #2 by a decent amount to start the year. Also I read how he was pretty good in pass protection and he has returned kicks and been the punt protector (even though that went poorly). It seems he is being groomed for all of the different roles a backup RB needs to play on the game day roster.

Deuce - lock to make the 53. I think we will get a few 3rd down opportunities as both a receiver and a runner. We will try to get him the ball in space and hope for some dynamic plays. I think by the end of the season he will be the #2.

Davis PS guy. I think some were way too high on him all along. I like his potential and think if injury strikes he could be more for us, but the team always seemed to have him behind Dowdle. I do like that Davis hits the hole quickly.

Luepke - wild card. I thought he might make the roster due to STs and FB/HB ability and possibly as a bull in short yardage, but he hasn't played either FB or HB at all during the preseason games and has fallen down on half of his runs without barely being touched like he is leaning forward waiting to get hit or something. No idea what they will do with him. I still think an outside shot he makes the game day roster.

Jones - cut him

Veteran pickup after cut down day may happen as well

I think they go light:

TP
Rico
Deuce

They’ll keep McKeon as a 4th TE that can give FB snaps. Hunter to the PS.
