RBs, where do we go

Has only been one game, but let's face it peeps, we have no CMC and we have no Jordan Mason, yet the 49ers have both and will only improve once CMC returns.
They did really well with Mason last week, that man is a beast behind a blocking scheme that accentuates his running style.

The question is if we can evolve a running game, and is a potential trade the only option at this point in order to improve at RB?

Our biggest weakness at this point IMHO.

I'm intrigued by Cooks

Who cares?

Our RBs will do fine.

To be real, the Cleveland defense is no slouch against the run. They’re stout. But I get the concern as I am as well. Still need a few more games before doing anything drastic. Who knows, Cook may have something.

I'm actually at the point where it would be nice to see Lance under center and be another Taysom Hill like runner. Just occasionally not like he is a starter in a wildcat offense or something.

I definitely think this needs to be a thing.

Some Zone read stuff would be great.

I think you play up to the trade deadline, find a tanking team with a good backup RB and trade a 6th or 5th for them
Yeah the win was cool last week, but no way we have a chance to do anything with this running back room.

We shouldn't just think about getting one in the next draft, we should be thinking about right now. Of course Jerry might be too cheap for that listening to Stephen, but Jerry should be thinking about right now more than anyone else.

I see the value of the run game coming back. Passing stats have been declining across The League. All the contending teams have threats in the run game. It'll be 2025 though before we have that threat at the earliest . . . unless Dalvin Cook shows us something none of us expect.

Not saying right now, but if things are going badly around the trade deadline, we should be taking a look instead of sitting on our hands yet again.

Next years draft is where you find the answer.

We’re not a running team.

Focus on blocking and the RBs will be ok for what we need.
Whatever we are it better have some balance. A one dimensional team does not win a lot of playoff games. Obviously you have to be able to pass in this league, but we better have a running game too if we want to win some playoff games.

Right now we have a below average running game. It may be ok for a little while but at some point without some threat in that backfield, defenses are going to play their safeties deep making the passing game a checkdown clinic.
