Where do we go?

I think we already went......but the RB's were gone.

I think the Cowboys were unwilling to pay free agent money or draft capital.

All the cool GM's were "devaluing" RB's and Jerry likes to go with fashion a year after it was considered the "in" thing.

I'd like to see what Cooks could like look. I can't imagine he'd be any worse than Dowdle. While I realize he is getting older, the guy was a good back at one point in his career.

I definitely think this needs to be a thing.

Some Zone read stuff would be great.
That aint happening and for good reason. It disrupts the flow of the game offensively. Focus on running the ball effectively and everything will fall in place. No need for gadgets.

Has only been one game, but let's face it peeps, we have no CMC and we have no Jordan Mason, yet the 49ers have both and will only improve once CMC returns.
They did really well with Mason last week, that man is a beast behind a blocking scheme that accentuates his running style.

The question is if we can evolve a running game, and is a potential trade the only option at this point in order to improve at RB?

Our biggest weakness at this point IMHO.
49ers have been a good running team before CMac came there. Kyle Shanahan just like his dad has been able to run the football regardless of who’s running the rock.

It’s too early to tell what we have at running back. On paper yes it looks old and unknown. But they had a solid attack against a good Browns team. We don’t know if it’s a true weakness yet.

I agree. It’s never been proven to work to take your QB out of his flow. No team does it.

I dont view MM as a good HC.

But i when i look back at his career in GB i do think he knows how to handle RBs and the OL. He does not need very good talent at those positions to create a good and competetitive crew.

So i dont expect a major upgrade at the RB position. Not even next season. Maybe we invest a 3rd rounder.

DLaw and Martin are likely gone.

Zeke too.

that’s our 2025 draft.

I had zero hope for Zeke but I thought he looked solid week 1. Did everything we needed him to do, picked up short yardage, got a TD, and pass blocked.

With Beebe & Guyton improving over the season our running game should be able to get the job done. Steele also looks much improved from last year.

Well Martin is signed thru 2025. But DFlaw is almost certainly gone.

I dont really see us drafting a OL again high in 2025. But a backup in the later rounds certainly.
But yes, we have a need at RDE. And i agree imo we will address that with a high pick in 2025.

Mason reminded me of Marshawn Lynch in his prime. Maybe #24 had something to do with it, but they have similar running styles, and he looks like the perfect complement to CMC.

Wouldn’t worry about our RB….I’m much more concerned with the gaping running lanes the SF OL was opening against a Jets DL with Quinnan Williams on it. They are gonna win a lot of games.

He never needed very good talent at RB in Green Bay. Having a present or future HOF QB for every single season probably helped.

I see the value of the run game coming back. Passing stats have been declining across The League. All the contending teams have threats in the run game. It'll be 2025 though before we have that threat at the earliest . . . unless Dalvin Cook shows us something none of us expect.
Defenses across the league are playing more 2-high safeties. It will be interesting to watch as the season progresses.

As for finding a RB. Probably will have to wait until the draft.

Thats true. And how Rodgers is able to read OL Blocks and maneuver inside the pocket helped too.

Still i like what he did with limited resources. I remember when they had to play Montgomery as RB and they werent missing a beat.

Our only hope to bringing in speed this year is finding ways to get Vaughn involved and productive.

25 for 102 and a TD week one with Dalvin Cook warming up in the bullpen . That’s where “ we go “.

To touch on Deuce briefly he will be odd man out , I’ve always compared him to a Boston Scott type if Dallas can’t find a way to use him someone in this league will .

I can tell you where to go but I'd probably get bent so let me put it this way how about we give it more than one game and that we're playing against one of the better defensive lines on the road on grass in game one where we gotta head early and I think the second-half was Mike McCarthy's fault for not using the running backs more they threw far too often in that third quarter in my opinion to very well covered receivers because the Browns adjusted they were daring us to run and we abandoned the run again...

You're blaming our running backroom and our offensive line without really looking at what happened this is Mike McCarthy just like it was Kelly Moore and stop giving those running backs so much credit in that offense with the 49ers are one of the best schemes ever that they designed for their running backs I don't even know why they paid $19 million for Christian McCaffrey they don't need them if that's not what you got from that game remember before Christian McCaffrey when they went to the Super bowl with Mosert and a couple other dudes? They truly didn't need to sign Christian McCaffrey to all that money I'm sorry but he didn't take them any further they went to Super Bowls and lost with him they went to Super Bowls and lost without him you're making a big deal about the run game with all the running back names what are The Jets running backs do they have like 4 of them if we're just judging game one how is it that these running backs that were picked up in the draft this last draft and or many of them like Justin Jacobs that didn't do well in game one and by the way neither did Derrick Henry are we going to keep doing this Derrick Henry was not better than Ezekiel Elliott they literally had about the same exact numbers after game one so that's where you want to go how about this tap the brakes let's play about six or seven games before you start worrying about our run game..

You know all that talk before the game during the week that we're going to commit to the run is it there not a better situation in football is to get up early on the road on grass and just run the football?

. I'm still trying to figure it out but to me this is a Mike McCarthy issue just like before we are blaming Kelly Moore they're not committing to the run they're passing when they should be running and running when they should be passing he's trying to be cute he did this early on last year and then he realized after we met the 49ers he need to make adjustments when he needs to up now.. That commitment to the run didn't happen in game one they abandon it when they should have been using it so this is not a problem yet until it is but do we want to go through every teams run game after game one and show me the name some of the people wanted here and show me how they didn't do squat either....
