I recall a lot of griping about DLaw last season but then this year he made some nice strides forward ,,, so I think I'll give Gregory a little more time to bulk up and find his groove,,,

This redraft is kind of dumb.

Too early, obviously, but I don't know how you pass up a consensus top 10 pick in Gregory at 60.

ESPECIALLY considering that he only dropped for off the field concerns that have yet to materialize. What's more, he actually seems like a very very mature kid.
ANY redoing of a draft is stupid because all teams passed on these players over and over. Makes zero sense.

Many pundits believed Claiborne was the best defensive player in the draft. I really can't hate on the front office for making a move that unanimously praised at the time.

Also, giving up a second stunk, but the value was solid for the trade up, it just stinks the player didn't turn out.

Why listen to 'pundits'? Why didn't our FO make their own assessment?
If they did, they were WAY off

We got 3 number 1s last year and people aren't happy?

It's amazing how all 32 teams passed on Gregory in the 1st round yet we here at CZ continue to call him a <virtual> first round pick.

If we are going to be honest with ourselves -- if we was drafted by the Eagles and had the year he had for them we'd be making fun of the pick.

No we wouldn't make fun of a player struggling after his rookie season. Sure, he did have a first round grade by many and slipped due to character concerns but at the end of the day, he was a second round pick. Nobody is going to be making fun of a late second round pick not immediately performing, especially when he had a high ankle sprain. He did have 8 hurries playing limited snaps, Shane Ray had the same amount of hurries, he just got to the QB a few times. Hurries at least tell me that he is getting close and sacks are bound to happen.

I have my own doubts about Gregory but lets see how his second season shakes out before we label him anything.

I know this is neither her nor there -- however if the Eagles drafted a pass rusher in the 2nd round and proclaimed him basically a first round steal (that fell)

AND he played 12 games

AND he had 0 sacks

AND he only managed 7 total tackles

yeah... we'd be making fun of the the Eagles.

AND he was only on the field for 23 percent of the teams snaps.

I wouldn't make fun of him because I understand the learning curve a lot of rookies go through, especially pass rushers.

Like I said, I have doubts myself due to his size but the fact he was stuck behind Hardy lets me give him one more season before I label him anything.

Let's revisit this in three years when it comes time to talk extensions.

That's not how it works. Our draft go from too early to determine to hindsight is 20/20. There is no point in between where it's okay to evaluate.

Amazing how this draft that produced "3 first rounders" and everybody was announcing this as an A+ draft..... in less that 9 months are already abandoning ship.....

other then jones this just might be the worst draft since the 2012 draft. I would not be surprised if none of the players picked after jones even makes it to the end of there third year.

ehh, that's a tough sell.

first collins wasn't drafted but is part of the "class".
so you had two year 1 starters that look like long-term fixtures.

gregory was 20 pounds underweight then injured.
chaz green was injured.
both guys were drafted for long-term prospects not immediate returns.

after those guys it's all shots in the dark but you gotta give those r4-7 guys more than 1 season.

the drafts have been pretty salty and this one should join that list.

Missing on Diggs really hurts me anyhow, mostly because he was a massive pet cat of mine.

I can't blame them on rolling the dice on Gregory, he was a top five talent available late second round and doesn't seem to be nearly as bad a kid as made out to be.

Still have hope for Green, no idea what if any impact the linebackers will have.

It really is very possible some of the draft experts on here could draft better than many front offices. It's puzzling and true. Goes to show the people making all the money often times could be easily replaced. They're not speacial.

Just like nearly every front office in the NFL.

Not really
The Rams were clearly not interested which is why they traded down

I remember reports from that draft that the Cowboys had not even met with Mo before drafting him because they thought they "had no chance of getting him". So they did go by the opinion of the pundits and did not do their homework. Think about it...... We picked a guy with the 6th overall pick without interviewing him, without meeting him. A guy with a wonderlic of 6!! So clearly we did not do our homework. That is our FO for you in a nutshell...... Impulse and reactive decisions

So, saying "I can't fault them" is just a lazy statement. They are absolutely at fault.

If IF was a fifth we'd all be drunk. Hindsight is easy to say we missed. Although I am in the party that says we need to do a better jobs in later rounds.
