Mens of distinction and of high-strata thinking:

Yes, our secondary sucks. Yes, we have holes in the O line.

But, if Mallett (or even Locker) is around in the 2nd round . . . .
How can we not take a chance on this underestimated kid who could be our cornerstone (not stoned) of the future when Romo starts descending?

As that guy Soupy Sayles, once asked us to rage against the dying of the light, I ask you to rage against the lemming-like opinion that this kid is too big a chance to take. That yea, as our secondary is a shambles and our O line seems softer than a chunk of provolone, that taking such a QB in the second round is ridiculous. Sadly, some think it is as ridiculous as Lucy wanting to be in the show. As ridiculous as a Spike Lee film winning an Oscar. As ridiculous as Bill Bates making the HOF.

I ask you mens, my brothers (except for a few I would like banned iffin money talks to the mods; no takers yet) to have an open mind about this great prospect.

As the writer of the above column says, while at Michigan, Mallet's talents, on a scale of 1 to 10, was a 12. Think about it. Think hard. Harder than a loan officer's heart. Harder than my estimation for Jolie Richardson.

I am overcome with conviction for writing this gud post so I must make like a tree and shed tears. No need to thank me, mens.

Yeah, because when I watch our offensive line pass block, the first thing that comes to my mind is "Man, we'd be unstoppable if we had a QB with 50lb feet!"

Do you really think he will make it to the #40 pick in the second round.

I don't.

Um, and in 3 years?
yeah, I guess, preparing for the future is overrated.

In 3 years he has at least another 3+. What's your point? Again, Romo is only 31 and has a good 6+ years in him.

I thought we learned our lesson in taking big southern dummy QBs who like to partake in recreational drugs.

Mallett has a great arm but how many QBs are there who succeed with primarily a big arm?

Dallas is not the place for this kid. He needs to stay clean, avoid the limelight and have an OL capable of blocking pass rushers for a long time.

And you promise no decline into his mid30s and you promise no injuries and you promise continued high-caliber play?

OK, you have swayed me.;)

Awwwww, Mom!!!!!!

I watched the show that Gruden does on ESPN and Mallet showed me lots and nothing good.

normally I would not put lots of stalk into a show like this but WOW he just dosent get it. that was clear

If you is talking about a lack of verbal and oral acumens, then that goes for
75% of all draft classes. He didn't throw or run for Gruden, did he?

(nice use of the word stalk);)

When you wish upon a star . . . .

But Mallet is, too, a Razorback. Maybe Red will throw Jerra a bone in the 2nd round.

Besides the off the field stuff, Mallett can be rattled easily with pressure. You put some hits on him and he folds under the pressure.

He reminds me a lot of Ryan Leaf.

I thought the Razorback notion was put to rest during the Felix Jones draft.

Isn't FJ the only Razorback we've ever drafted?

Aside from Jimma, I cannot think of one. But nonetheles, Jerra loves da razorbacks.

Not to mention he's going to get a rude awakening, and so will his fans, in the NFL. The guy's windmill release is almost as pronounced as Byron Leftwich's, who also had a " cannon for an arm " coming out of Marshall and was taken with the 8th pick of the draft. 3-4 defenses who like to zoneblitz ( Packers, Steelers, Dullphins, Jets ) are going to love playing against him because of the extra second they're going to get due to his release.

I'd take Newton over him, as much of a project as Newton is, just for the simple fact that the ball gets out of his hands alot quicker. That's also true for most of the rest of the QBs in this class.

I wish I'd seen that. In fact, I'll go see if it's online.

But like the others said, he's a weird dude. Even if his head were okay, he's super slow and seems to throw a lot of picks in crunch time.

Incredible arm, though.

I have watched several of these shows and in all the others it was very positive stuff but at one point in his 30 mins with Mallet he said " are you mad at me? you arent mad are you?"
I was thinking the whole time that this guy comes off like a cry baby who like pouting. also in the pc he seemed to not want to accept blame for his mistakes.

Dalton was the total opposite of Mallet in these areas
