Agree, ol stunk, the guard from GB isn't lighting anybody up, neither are Flo or LA, and not to rain on a local but Mr. Pettitti got schooled abit, but at least he's a rookie...

not THE reason, but agood one. We should make Pierce our FB, the one game i saw him play, he was not only getting some great blocks, but he looked like he had great awareness, and has a big future here as blocking TE. It would be such a huge help, I cant believe parcells entered the season with Polite, who is basically a worthless reject.

The real reason julius isn't tearing it up is becuase we have no FB!! His entire football career he has been running behind a fullback and is used to it. Look at all the great rbs in the league they have tremendous leading fb, when you have no lead blocker its much harder to do what your capable of, so please stop with this crap about julius being crappy and sucking, and saying please play tyson thompson. How about we get julius a real FB and then well see what he can do.

Does anyone else think he's hurting??? He seems to be holding his shoulder oddly, it was eeerily similar to last year when he stayed in with the broken shoulder.

Anyone else think he's hurt?

You guys seem to be leaving out a BIG part of it here... While our Oline did suck yesterday, opposing defenses have nothing to worry about until third down or in the fourth quarter. We have no passing attempts until either third down or the fourth quarter. Defenses are simply pinning their ears back and focusing on Julius, everyone had to know this was gonna happen. I passed on him (jj) in my fantasy league draft because of this. If you stop JJ you stop our offense.

The other thing I would like to see is a toss play. If we can't beat down the middle, which we can't so far this year, then get him the ball in space. He has soo many moves, we need to use him more outside the tackles. Screen passes are another thing we don't do too often. He should be putting up Westbrook like numbers, make the defense focus on him moving around, not just trying to figure out what side of the line we are gonna run to.

I can't place the exact time of them, but I remember several first half series that started off with incomplete passes.

7 of our first 14 plays were pass plays in the 1st Q.

In the 2nd Q 7 of 17 were pass plays, skewed a little because Thomspson got on a roll and Bill fed him the ball.

Thats 14 of 31 plays were a pass in the 1st half.

Can we stop the hyperbole now?

I'd be more interested in finding out how many times we threw on first down, and how long our avg. "to go" was. we weren't passing "down the field" (I should have included that in my first statement) it's 3-5 yd routes. It just allows the defense pack it in around the line and set their sites on JJ because they know if they are within 7yds of the LOS no one is going to get behind them.

Number of 100-yard rushing performances against San Diego, Washington, San Francisco, and Oakland this year (in 15 games).

OK, so defenses are lining up to stop JJ. Then why was our passing game so absolutely innefective? Im sorry, but if you "line up" to stop the run then it opens the pass.

The problem is our OLINE, plain and simple. These guys, AGAIN this year, are stinkinh it up.

Hello, Jamie Martin? This is coach Parcells. What are you doing this Sunday? How about blowing a few guys up in front of JJ for me? :laugh2:

Number of 100-yard rushing performances against San Diego, Washington, San Francisco, and Oakland this year (in 15 games).

-- Julius has the most yards of any running back against San Diego and against Oakland, and he's only 5 yards away from having the most against San Francisco.

-- The four teams we've played have allowed a combined 3.8, 3.9, 3.6 and 3.3 yards per rush, respectively, in their other games.

-- There are 17 defenses who have allowed more than 3.90 yards per rush (not including our defense), and we haven't faced any of them yet. But we will face them in each of our next six games, and in eight of our next nine games.

It was about time you got on board, I've been holding down the fort for a week now, and I was beginning to think I'd have to do this by myself. :D

Most people look at Julius' 803 yards in 7 complete games last year, and they remember it like he got 115 yards in each game, but that was just an average. Like all great backs, he had decent games (for the most part) against good run defenses, and he really cleaned up (for the most part) against the weak run defenses.

(rank in rushing yards per game allowed)
2004
11/21 BAL (8th) 30 81 2.7
11/25 CHI (25th) 33 150 4.5
12/06 SEA (23rd) 30 198 6.6

12/12 NO (30th) 23 88 3.8
12/19 PHI (16th) 25 80 3.2
12/26 WAS (2nd) 22 57 2.6
01/02 NYG (28th) 29 149 5.1

2005
09/11 SD (7th) 26 93 3.6
09/19 WAS (5th) 22 81 3.7
09/25 SF* (19th) 26 85 3.3
10/02 OAK** (13th) 22 76 3.5

*7th in YPC
**6th in YPC

Last year, the average ranking of the run D's Julius faced was 15th in the league in yards per carry allowed. IOW, he faced an average schedule. This year, so far it's 9th. This will even out as the year goes on.

Considering the fact that everyone believed (and most still believe) that Julius will have to carry the offense, we've done well to go 2-2 when defenses haven't allowed him a 100-yard game yet. As we draw weaker run D's (which we will) Julius' numbers will go up, and so will our win total.
