It wasn’t that long ago around that some were arguing we should spend big $$ on a 30 year old Adrian Peterson. So don’t know how anyone can be upset by this contract. They add two ridiculous years to the end of the contract so that Zeke could say he is the highest paid RB ever. He’ll never see that money at 31 years old.

The years at the end were for the Cowboys benefit. They would still have him under contract if he's still playing at a high level but it's not guaranteed so they can release him if he's worn down.

Maybe.

But if he's like Peterson or 22 or Gore or LT, he'll have plenty left in the tank and we'll have him locked in for several years at salaries that are bound to become a much smaller % of the cap
People keep talking about how small a percentage against the cap 102MM is. I just keep wondering what the Cowboys could have bought for 8 years and 102MM.

Adrian Peterson has not gotten big money in a long time. Let's be intellectually honest at least.

The realistic values of the contracts based on how the guaranteed money is structured:

Gurley
3 years, 40M, fully guaranteed.
13.3M average

Zeke
4 years, 50M, fully guaranteed.
12.5M average

Worst Case:
Gurley: 1 year, 22M
Zeke: 2 years, 38M

Great job of passing on the true facts. What are your thoughts on the contract?

If you go back and look at some of the threads you would be shocked what some people thought we should do to get him.

Please do tell me what we are missing out on. Particularly with half that non guaranteed

We literally just signed Jaylon and Williams for just 10MM more gtd than Zeke alone got. That's a blue chipper and an above average starter.

It's almost like you don't even follow your own team.

Basically this deal guarantees that Zeke will one day be cut by the Cowboys for being a (relative to salary) bad football player. The question is, will it happen far enough in the future that nobody cares? Past history says: almost certainly not.

Zeke: 2 years, 38M

Wouldn't the worst case be a suspension for Zeke and a lot of his guaranteed salary wouldn't be paid? It seems like the low (relatively) signing bonus is insurance against that happening.

What is the difference between your "fully guaranteed" and "worst case", and how is the latter lower than the former?

So we missed out on those players who we just signed?
