We all have to understand this is year 1 of a defensive rebuild, not all needs are going to be addressed, what is your realistic expectation for this year's class?

-Two impact starters
-Find 2 yr contributors after rd 1
-Improve the overall defensive talent

7 HOF players

Ideally the 1st rounders at least become starters.
3rd rounder would be nice to start out as rotation/sub packages by some point
Day 3 on, just get players that could at least be dressed and some type of package by mid year.

To go from the defensive ranks of the 30's into the late teens or early 20's. That threshold must be their goal, at the very least.
I would take league average. Also, have to remember about 2nd wave of fa post draft.

Our defense will be more impacted by improvement from year 2 guys than any rookie. Its hard to expect two high level rookie starters especially if they are favoring pass rushers and CB's

Pass rushers do have a steep learning curve, but expectation for a corner should be starter at some point yr 1. If they draft Delane, he should be a day 1 starter.

The rebuild started last year. Trading away Micah, then the trades at the trade deadline.
It continued with firing Eberflus, and hiring Parker. Then allowing him to bring in his own coaches.

He had an influence on what they did in FA as well.

Now we get to see how he will influence the draft.

Yes, they did start last yr after the Parsons trade, but this is the 1st offseason.

It could go well. The receiver and qb situations could create trade back opportunities at 12 and 20. The Arizona and Cleveland situations could create trade up opportunities from 12.

Starter yes, but alot of time even for 1st's thats a below average starter. Guys like Sauce, Surtain and Mitchell are the exception, not the rule.

It depends on who they draft at the back end of the first round.

With the first pick, Delane would be a no doubt starter pretty much right away, if they could manage him. Downs would be a starter if he was the early pick.

The second pick, if they took Rodriguez at the back of the first, he would be a starter.

If they took Lawrence instead at the end of the first, he would likely just be a contributor in year one. That doesn’t make him a bad pick.

I think Keionte Scott would essentially be a starter.

If they took Chris Johnson or Hood at the back of round 1, they would be either a starter or a heavy contributor.

I’m just not going to bet real caught up in starter vs contributor. Any of those guys would help.

In the 1st ideally a starter and a significant snap eater.

Ex - In the recent mock where we got Delane and Lawrence Delane is starting and Lawrence would get a lot of pass rush snaps.

At 92 ideally there is someone lurking around in the "significant snaps" mode or maybe a LBr like Trotter is still hanging around who could compete for a starting job.

Two starters and most picks make the roster.

I don’t have to understand anything. It’s the FO’s fault the defense fell apart in the first place.

The expectation is to be a competitive playoff team. I’m not into the “give it more time” mindset for this FO.

I’m in the camp that believes that significant improvements will come simply from the scheme and coaching changes.

I believe that every player on the team is measurably better as a result of that, and that every rookie coming in is better for it as well.

I don’t have a line-in-the-sand expectation when it comes to the draft. But I have to believe they’ll get three to four contributors for 2026 at a minimum.

2 starters…

Anything else is a cherry on top but for
Sure 2 legit starters.
