Reality just arrived

I remember that same line last year after week one. Where Eli shredded the secondary for over 400 yards with a completely one-dimensional offense.

Good times...

Funny thing is, you aren't judging them on one game. You were judging them on a body of work. Until that body of work changes, any improvement is just wishful thinking.

Defense was bad, that's a surprise - I expected atrocious.

Offense was horrible, that's a surprise - I expected greatness.

We're in for a disappointing season, folks.

Sorry, not following you here?

This is a 1 day old myth IMHO. Everyone seems positive on the defense today, however, I'm not sold at this point:
  • Colin Kaepernick is currently the #1 ranked passer in the NFL with a 125.5 QB rating. He completed 70% of his passes yesterday and averaged 8.7 YPA.
  • Defense forced 0 turnovers
  • Defense only had 1 sack and beyond that just <ok> general pass rush
  • Defense allowed 5.0 ypc against Gore/Hyde. 5.0 ypc will get you killed in this league
  • Pass defense looks exactly the same as it did last year -- which shouldn't be surprising -- it's the same guys as 2013
  • The lack of cover safeties stands out like a sore thumb
Hope I am wrong about this -- however, from my viewpoint the Cowboys pass defense was terrible, the rush defense was bad (based on the Gore/Hyde's 5.0 ypc), the defense was unable to force a turnover, and the pass rush was subpar.

Go Cowboys!

It's one game...if romo plays well, we could have won the game...the murray fumble took the air out of the team early, and then the enormous amount of red in the stands was just offensive...the (dallas) crowd never got into the game, the offense kept giving the ball away...4 to's? I just can't see that happening every week...if they play sub-standard like that this week against Tenn, then I can see some of the negativity being warranted....I say again, we were an underdog in this game and it became a blowout because of QB play....we "should" have lost the game, and we did....moving on to Tennessee

Did we give up after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!

Do you disagree that smart teams try to run out the clock with a 28-3 lead, or that that's what the SF game plan was in the 2nd half?

I disagree on that being their game plan in the 2nd half. They went into prevent mode on their last possession.

There is a difference between prevent mode and general clock and field position management, in the 2nd half, the 9ers focused on the latter two until the last series with a 19-11 run to pass play balance.
