After a frustrating loss like today, here are a few reality reminders any serious fan of the Cowboys and the NFL should remember:

1. The NFL is the most unpredictable league in pro sports. If you think you know what is going to happen week to week, or who is going to win or lose each week, you’re kidding yourself.

2. The margin between winning and losing in the NFL is paper thin. If a team doesn’t play its best every week, they will lose. It’s why Dallas lost today. And why a good teams like the rams or pats can suck occasionally. And why undefeated teams don’t come along anymore in the NFL.

3. What happened today is not always a good predictor of tomorrow. The Cowboys still have all their goals available to them.

4. We are what our record says we are. The Cowboys are 8-6 for a multitude of reasons. Good, but not dominant. Still have time to finish strong. Two games to further define itself.

5. When you lose this badly in this league, it’s a team effort. This was a complete team loss. From the Coaches down to last player on the roster.

6. Adversity measures a team. Good teams bounce back. Bad teams point fingers, make excuses and lose again. The good thing about this loss is it will reveal what this team really is- resilient or weak.

7. Your team probably isn’t as good as it looks in the good times or as bad as it looks in the bad times!

A lot of football left to determine what this team is going to be known for in 2018.

i cant help myself to think that most of the nfl games are a setup. especially near playoff time. just to make games interesting again.

These are all great reminders. It was a very disappointing loss for the Cowboys today, further compounded by wins for both the Eagles and Commanders. But next week there is another game and the Cowboys still have a chance to win the division. As fans, we need to hope that today was an aberration and that the ship will be put back on course next week.

It would take an unbelievable amount of competent coordination by the league to set up games. I don’t think the NFL is that competent.

i dont know.

it just feels strange that great teams lose games in that fashion right before the playoffs. and thats year after year after year.

the nfl is all about making money. i guess they find ways.

All true. If they win next week, this week will be forgotten. I am not as disappointed as some. I will reserve my panic for week 17 if the Cowboys lose to the Bucs next week.

This was the worst I have seen this defense play for a full game all year. Not sure why, but they were really off today. I think they will be a lot better next week at home.

It was a poor game from all corners. But I haven’t heard anyone give any credit to the Colts. That’s a really good young team that has won 7 of 8 including stopping Houston’s 9 game winning streak and Dallas’ 5 game streak.

Yeah we sucked today but the Colts were a big reason for a lot of that.

It has much to do in these games when better teams are losing is opponents have more at stake.

Colts had much more to play for much like the Steelers, Skins and Eagles.

It changes from week to week depending on each teams circumstances but I can tell you I picked all of these today correctly . The only one I missed was Seattle today. That was a shocker. 9ers had nothing to play for.

Don't think it's set-up at all......just the last 4 weeks of the season you see teams and/or players going all out leaving everything on the field. Teams fighting hard for playoff bids or players fighting for jobs and/or future contracts.

Just read a tweet this week of a player afraid on getting cut at the end of the season ( he's in the middle of on 2nd contract ), saying he's playing the last three games for 31 teams.

Exactly ........think fans underestimated the fact Luck was once a top 3 QB and to be honest he's pretty close to regaining his old form.

Oh trust me

Philly Washington and dallas will all be 8-7 by the last game

Think of the ratings

No doubt. How quickly people forgot that Andrew Luck was once a top 5 QB who took the Colts to the 2014 AFC championship game. He’s just now getting back to form after that bad shoulder injury from 2016.

we need some level headed posts around here to offset the ridiculous individual threads with each signaling out a particular player when this was team loss..we can right the ship next week..

BEAT tampa...WIN THE EAST.
anything can happen in the play-offs and I still think this defense gives us a chance.
but first things first.
