I honestly like both players a lot.
I feel like Forbes, right now, can cover WR’s. Put him on the field, point to a guy and tell him “Don’t let that guy catch the ball” and he could do that. Forbes is such a natural cornerback… he already does a whole lot of what Quinn will want him to do in the secondary. It is a big reason that I like Forbes so much. His instincts for playing the position are just what you want.
That is what Forbes does… he harasses receivers at the catch point and, often, gets his hands on the ball. His length and speed really helps him do that. Being thin doesn’t hamper him much from being a pain in the *** for receivers.
McDonald, while also being a natural pass rusher, will probably need more work to consistently get through NFL tackles. I think he will contribute as a rookie, and he will be a good one… but he’s just not as pro ready as Forbes, IMO, who can cover like a Mo Fo.
