I’ve been reading where many fans think we should be in a rebuilding mode?

Is this like after 3 straight 5-11 seasons or like 3 straight 8-8 seasons? No, this after 3 straight 12 win seasons.

I’m trying to recall a 3 consecutive 12 win team that decided it needed a total rebuild ? I’d like to hear some historical comparisons to support these notions.

I understand our frustrations with lack of playoff success but who does a total rebuild with this level of success however disappointing the ending?

Yes, we have set some historic futilities in the playoffs but this team is still ranked in top 4 of the conference.

No this isn’t 2003 or even 2011 when rebuilds were needed. Instead we should be retooling at the very least and continuing to attempt to build upon the current team.

The Cowboys in 1971 were frustrated after losing the Super Bowl and 2 previous first round exits in the playoffs.

But it didn’t bring about a rebuild. It just brought about a change at QB. Maybe there’s something to be learned here?

The problem is though do we have another HOF caliber QB sitting on the bench? I doubt it.

You're spot on. There is no rebuild. That is ridiculous. When you have 12 win seasons, you take steps to get better results, not rebuild. The problem is, Dallas doesn't do that. Their off seasons after going 12-5 is the same as when they go 5-12. It doesn't change.

No, Dallas doesn't have a Hall of Fame QB on the roster, but this is a good place to start making changes. However, I don't believe that is the fix for everything that is wrong with the franchise, the attitude and culture needs to be addressed first. The entire franchise is missing the passion and desire to win, and until that returns they will never win anything. Was anyone pissed off by the embarrassing loss to Green Bay? If they were it was hidden very well.

Nope. Neither. We just proceed as normal. Jerry is the master at convincing the masses every year that we are one or two players (while loving our guys) away from a Super Bowl. For him to do either of those would mean that he'd have to admit that he was wrong with past choices. He'll never do that.

Now let's get back to our regularly scheduled programing....

Ever build a house? Didn't think so....Let me tell you....if you think you cam pull a remodel off a crappy foundation....you would be mistaken. And that is the problem here...the foundation is crap. You don't build around a crap QB like Dak....an aging RB like Zeke. Your WR room is almost empty...You take away Lamb...who in that room scares you???? Nobody. Your O-line is a musical chair mess of guys that will be playing out of position this season. You got a lame duck coaching staffing...a playbook written in crayon. This thing is closer to ....it should be blown up...other than a "retool".

Good post .......how can you not appreciate three 12-5 seasons straight? I mentioned in another thread how we are much closer to a Super Bowl now than not. You have to believe the odds of breaking the playoff cycles are more in our favor than not. Can you start over with a new coach AND QB and pick up where they left off? Unlikely, very unlikely.......It would certainly set us back a couple of years, maybe more. We could suddenly struggle to get a winning season let alone playoffs.
This is why it's frustrating......many signs point to a need for change but how much and at what cost? No easy anwsers

Should be a retool. There are some really good players on this roster. Young ones, too. Obvious positions to be retooled but overall this team can contend if ownership would be honest with themselves

The problem is you guys are not taking the salary cap era into account. 3 consecutive 12 win seasons with no playoff success, really just mean you are in a stagnant stage. You have two choices really 1) continue to pay your current players on an escalating scale, where a few players (in our case unsuccessful player(s) eat the majority of the salary pie, or 2) reset with a new players. That is how the modern NFL is set to run, love it or hate it.

12 wins means something though it’s incredibly difficult to do. Typically teams don’t rebuild from that.

If you think Dak is crap I can’t really trust your analogy or opinion on building houses.
