• Brent out of jail. Jerry wants to give him a chance, just to get his life back in order. If he's better then whats in Dallas it can only be good for the team. Feeling he will be in Oxnard.

• Defensive posistion battles.

DE: Eatman: Selvie will start on one side. Kavner: 4 guys who could start. Selvie, Crawford, Lawrence and Mincey

Crawford will probably be playing inside at DT, Gardner is the wild card.

• Going back to Brent, he would be a perfect fit for the 1tech in Marinelli's system.

• Even without the superstar players, You just feel a little better about this DL then what was in Dallas last yr. Alot of unknowns, but there are alot of guys who fit what Marinelli wants to do.

• Spencer, when and if he gets healthy. Doubt he's ever a starter again, If theres a 3rd down situation you put him in.

• 3 guys who would be hard to cut: Gardner, Coleman, Bishop.

• Picks for DL Starters:
They go to break and ignore this when they come back from the break. This is why i hardly listen to CB because its totally unorganized conversation wise.

• Caller: DL compared from this yr to last yr. Caller says its better.

Kavner: if 1-8 do their jobs and play to their potential yes its better.

Now they go back to the DL starters

• Eatman: Selvie | Melton | McClain | Lawrence
• Kavner: Selvie | Melton | McClain | Mincey

• Can Gardner be a rotational DE on this team?
Yes absolutely. Gadner will be a DE and on nickle downs he could go inside if you need him.

• Posistion LB

• Carter will win the WLB spot if he couldnt theres problems there.
• Mike spot Its there for Durant to win, But Hollomon just looks better.

• Looks like what they want is Carter at the WILL, Durant at the Mike and Wilber at the SAM with Hollomon coming in with the nickle to play with Carter.

• Durant has to be head and shoulders better than Hitchens to be on the team.

• Eatman: personally i would say give it to Hollomon and say learn the job

• picks for starters
• Eatman: Carter WLB | Hollomon MLB | Durant SLB
• Rowan: Carter | Durant | Hollomon
• Girl: Carter | Hollomon | Wilber

• A guy who could get into the mix Will Smith.

• Posistion CB

• 3 guys Carr, MO, Scandrick. Doesnt matter who starts but it will be those 3 guys. Mo could win his spot back.

• Moore, Patmon, Webb could all be fighting for 4th CB spot. Webb could get cut if he doesnt show much improvement.

• If Matt Johnson has a killer preseason its going to make a tough situation.

• Eatman: i dont see Johnson, Heath both making the team, not both.

• Safety

• Eatman: Church, Wilcox, Dixon, Hamilton

• Interesting Witten and Wilcox going at it at practice. Good to see Wilcox get in Wittens face when Witten spiked the ball at him. Wilcox wouldnt do that last yr. Good healthy for the team.

• People talk about the Cowboys scoring alot of points. What people dont mention is the Defense early on put them in posistion for them points with alot of short fields coming off their takeaways.

• Who leads team in sacks? Eatman: Lawrence 8, Rowan: Mincey 8

A lot of fuss over another guy who has shown not be any kind of difference maker.

Kavner: 4 guys who could start. Selvie, Crawford, Lawrence and Mincey

This team is in huge trouble if Mincey plays a large number of snaps.

This is Jerrys problem IMO. He's too loyal to players and coaches. And this is a case of that. In everyday life you would praise Jerry for him being so kind in giving somebody a 2nd chance. But in a NFL enviroment its a problem for society. Go figure.

This team is in huge trouble if Mincey plays a large number of snaps.
I agree, I could see Mincey being cut in favor or Wilson. CB is always raving about Mincey who hasnt shown anything even in shorts.

If Lawrence gets 8 sacks this year, he will be DROY winner.

History says otherwise but that's highly optimistic...

I know I do. But I also feel like I'm in the minority regarding that around here.

I do too. I see alot of hungry guys who want to prove themselves. seattle had a bunch of guys like this. and their first couple yrs in seattle they were bad too. And grew into the system. Point is you have to play to grow. and you have to start somewhere. This is that starting point.

You might be in the minority, but you're not alone. I feel as though we will be deeper and hungrier on the DL. We may may not be as top heavy as we were in recent seasons, but that's probably a good thing. We have quite a few young guys with ability and all of these guys (young and old) have something to prove. There will be good competition along the DL and that will likely help to bring out the best in all of these players. I'm more concerned with our safeties and LBs doing a solid job than the DL. Having said that, I think guys like Wilcox and Holloman have a real chance to be good players. I also think Carter will bounce back a bit and Church will play well. Wilber showed some promise last year and it wouldn't surprise me if one of the young guys like Johnson or Hamilton stepped up and became a contributor.

This may seem like pure optimism to some. Admittedly, I am optimistic about this team. They have plenty of question marks and there will probably be a few players who disappoint. However, when I compare what we have now to what we were trotting out most of last season, I think we will be better. This will also be the second year in this defense which can only help most of these guys play faster and with more confidence. I do not think improving from one of the worst defenses in history to a mediocre defense is unrealistic at all. The offense has the potential to be very good. Combine that with even a below average defense and 10 wins is very realistic IMO.

I want all three of them to make the team. Out with the old. Let the young guys play.

Marinelli' system will allow them to be successful doing one thing and doing it well until they learn more moves, ideally. It's why I have hope for the DL. Selvie and Melton have proven they can play well in this league. McClain is looking like a steal, at least in practice. That means all we need is for Lawrence to be a good one. If that happens, we go from 1 and 3 maybes from last year to 4 solid yes's. That's huge, even if none of them get 19 sacks like DeMarcus Ware.

I think at this point Gardner's a lock... Just because of the lack of numbers at DE... And I think the kid has some talent.

Bishop and Coleman... I think all of us would be thrilled if one or both of these guys showed enough this season that DT was a big hole come next offseason. I'd luv for us to be able to end the 2014 season thinking, "Well Melton looked pretty good this year... Mclain was light-years better than Hayden and the two kids... Bishop & Coleman gave the team a couple hundred productive snaps each".

Gardner is way too awesome not to make the team. It wouldn't surprise me to see all three make the team.
