and as an aside to that, the Chiefs just traded their franchise tagged pass rusher who lead the league in sacks for the 17th pick and a pair of 3rd rounders...I dont see how one could make a legit argument that Roy Williams is worth alot more than that...

I don't think this argument helps us much.

The Vikings traded #17, #73, and #82, valued at:

17 - 950 pts.
73 - 225 pts.
82 - 180 pts.
Total - 1355 pts.

Our picks are valued:

22 - 780 pts.
28 - 660 pts.
Total - 1440 pts.

So, essentially if you value Allen and Roy Williams about the same (not saying you should), it'd be a pretty equal trade.

But it all depends on Detroit's willingness/eagerness to unload him. Despite him likely leaving in a year or two, they don't seem too eager to get rid of him.

If we really want him, we'll probably have to sweeten the pot more than we'd like.

based on pts maybe, but not based on the calibar of players we'd be passing on....two 1sts is just too much IMO considering he doesnt have a contract and will cost a significant amount to sign long term

dont get me wrong, I do hope we get him...maybe you do it for two firsts if you get something back in addition as Gosselin suggested

Yeah, perhaps their 3rd round pick, which we could use on Tashard Choice or Matt Forte.

thats definitely part of it....liek I said they have alot of leverage and can keep him this yr, get him to help their team and then franchise and trade him next yr if they cant sign him long term...thats one reason why I dont think they are trading him this yr

I do think the Bengals are nuts to not trade Chad Johnson though, he wouldnt be my first choice, but if we got him for 22 or 28 and something else I'd have to strongly consider it...he's a tremendous player

I'd rather have TJ who's-your-mama.

a side note here.

If anyone gets a chance to listen to the podcast of yesterday mornings fake norm with goose done by the musers you will love it.

I was in tears laughing. they do such a great job breaking gosselins chops.

I will see if I can find a link.

I couldn't believe they didn't put it up on their podcasts. It was one of the funniest bits they did all year.

goose "isnt it amazing how casually confident I am"

I had a pain in my side after he said that.

its a shame that will end with the draft season being over.

Norm: Any other predictions Goose?

Goose: Yeah, you're going to die in a seedy massage parlor with a knife in your belly and a secret in heart.

Norm: Is it the secret I'm thinking of?

Depending on who's available at 22 (has the run on corners already occurred?), I might be willing to part with both 1sts to get Roy Williams.

I wonder if they'd take next year's first along with 28, or some combination of 28, this year's third and next year's second?

Or maybe my scenario is going completely overboard in an attempt to get him.

I vote you are going overboard. I like the trade but not what you are giving. You have to always make a trade with your head and not your heart.

11 fumbles seems to be way too many! I would pass on Charles.
I wouldn't pass on Jamal, fumbling is technique, not talent.

our two firsts plus our second, for Roy Williams and their second and 5th. Use our two fifths to trade up into the 4th if we have to.

What I would like to see, Although I know it will not happen. Is to trade our 28 this year and our first next year for R. Williams.

Then with our 22 trade out of the first to a team with a high second. Get thier second and first next year. Then draft Cason with our first second and a RB with our second.

That would be perfect to me. We traded our first last year for a first this year and a second. So it is possible. And a team like Atlanta may be looking to move up.
