Ellis:
- After playing here for so many years I never had any problems before this all happened.
- I apologize to the fans. This whole thing was never about the money for me, I just wanted more commitment for my future.
- I appreciate Bill finding me a place to play. I just asked for him to be honest with me, which he has been. I don't know how much I will play as of yet. On the other hand I'm not sure Jerry is making a commitment to me and waiting to see how this works out. In Jerry's defense I'm sure he is wanting to make sure his investment is worth it. I just don't want to be on the street if this thing doesn't work. I think you can rest assured that if this thing doesn't work out, I won't be here.
- Bill has really pulled me back into the fold. I'm not sure he knows that but he has.
- I don't feel comfortable at the postion at this point. I know they say I am doing well but after practicing a position I know nothing about Bill would understand my apprehension. I don't want to be embarrassed on TV. I don't want to let the team down. If we lose a game because of me I would have a hard time dealing with that.
- I've told the world I was coming to training camp. I signed a contract and I intend to fulfill it. I never considered not showing up.
- For me, this is kinda like being a rookie again. If they have a slot receiver line up over me, I have to cover him. That's not a good thing.
- I know Bill wants to use me in situations that wouldn't require me to have to drop back into coverage alot.
- From what Bill has said he told me he wants me fresh to rush the QB, so I don't know how many plays I will get.
- I'm in a bit of a different position than most players. If it doesn't go good then I won't be here next year. I will lose out if this thing doesn't work out. If it does then Bill we look like a genius.
- If you had your way, would you release yourself? That is a tough question. I appreciate Bill and what he has tried to do here, but I am not a huge risk taker so I would rather do something that I am familiar with. This has been my toughest training camp ever.
- Willie McGinnest has been playing OLB for a long time. He didn't start learning it in his ninth year. Lane was put in the same position with Cleveland and he was let go. I think that situation more matches me.
