Norm:
- Some Bengal team members are now saying they should move Johnson so it won't be a distraction to the team. I still think Cincy will dig their heels in on this one. They just redid his contract two years ago. If they wait until June 1 to cut him, they can spread the cap hit out over a couple of years. If I trade him I want a #1 and maybe a three. He is a good, fairly young WR (30) signed for a long time. He is productive and a speed WR. They'll likely want a #1 and #3 this year. If I can give a #1 this year and a #4 next year I may would do that deal. Cincy will have a hard time leveraging with Roy Williams and Anquan Boldin being rumored to be available.
- The word is out of Oakland is that Al Davis has fallen in love with Darren McFadden as a player and apparently that is where he ends up.
- The iggles wanted to deal Leto Shphered but apparently that is off now.
- Jarrod Allen and KC can't come to terms and apparently the Vikings are prepared to offer a #1 and #3. They have a contract solution worked out for Allen but haven't satisfied what KC wants yet (a #1 and #2).
- The third round is going to be on Day 2 this year so it gives teams a chance to study players and moves made by other teams. I think the third is very important this year. Dallas will be in a good position for those teams that need QB late in the first. Henne is now rumored to be wanted by a team in the mid first. If you see Henne and Brohm sliding down and those players are on the board around the Dallas pick, you'll see many teams needing a QB calling them about a deal. There are considered 4 good QB's on this board and then the second tier QB's. For example, KC is at 35. They may want one of the QB's left. Dallas could slide down 7 spots and probably pick up a third in the deal.
- Who should the Cowboys get at 28? From what I am seeing on the board, no one. A player you could get in the early 20's, you could get later on. There is a plateau in the early 20's. Once you get to that plateau then it changes things. The same player that you get at 28 you may get at 38. That saves lot's of money for a team. Miami would move from one to six in a heartbeat. They could get one of the two players they value and save millions.
- I believe the plateau happens between 22 and 28. WR's Jackson, Nelson, Hardy Kelly, Sweed may be there. CB's Talib, Smith, Flowers, Godfrey and Porter could be there. They could move down and still get a good player. There could be a player you would be fine with and pick up more picks. I think Dallas trades out of the 28 slot.
- Goose made a good point the other day in regards to Detroit trading Williams. This may change when you get to late in the first round when the pick comes around and you can put a face with the pick. What if a player is there they like and they know they are losing Williams next year. I think Boldin would be the cheapest and Johnson is the best of those three, but he carries a lot of baggage. I think Williams is the best fit for Dallas.
- Question on Chris Johnson. The problem I have with Chris Johnson is that he was a 5th or 6th rounder over the course of last year. He puts up some enormous numbers in a few games, in Conference-USA nonetheless, but he had little impact the previous three years. I think he's a talent, but I think we are being overly-attracted by his 40 time. He's a good KR but not sure he is the RB Dallas needs.
- Caller: I think we can trade our 28 for a #1 next year. At 28 I'm not sure. That's a very late one and I doubt you have the leverage for a number one pick. You could likely get a high #2 and a #3.
- What about Ray Rice? I see Ray Rice suggestions are starting in the late second round. I like him alot, he is a good RB. Mike Hart is a good player but his measurables aren't there.
