I must say I found it a bit disturbing when the NFL requested all tapes from New England in regards to scouting over the last couple of years then a couple of days later said they destroyed the evidence and no further actions would be taken against the Patriots...

Norm:
  • How many of those has the NFL answered to us about the cheating allegations and conviction of Belichick. THis thing really stinks to me.
  • Who: We know Belichick cheated his butt off.
  • What: We know the very very briefest of the what. They were using cams to steal signs from other teams.
  • Why: Well, that seems to be pretty straightforward. They stated they were doing against Green Bay for future contests not the game in which they were playing.. Hmm... they won't play the Packers again for years. Ridiculous
  • Where: Where all has this taken place?
  • When: How many places and games did they do this in?
  • We have one of the dirtiest allegations a league can have, a coach cheating. How can this go from the biggest story in the NFL in years and over in less than two weeks.
  • The league conveniently destroyed all of the evidence and made this go away quickly.
  • Did they interview people from the several teams that claimed they were victims? Did they interview Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini and former players of the Pats? No, I don't think so. Not in that short of a time.
  • I think they were basically peeing their pants hoping all of this wouldn't get out. I think this is a major cover-up and the truth of what went on this league should be brought out. The NFL was as fast as I had ever seen in investigating this. They spent more time on Pac Man Jones, Chris Henry and Tank Johnson than they did on this; and this is a much bigger story.
  • Johnson, Henry and Jones were punished for disrepute of the league. What is more disrepute to this league other than an almost dictator-like coach that was cheating his butt off. He not only did it, he's being doing it for a long time.
  • This looks to me like the NFL has run and hidden in regards to this story. Robert Craft, Jerry Jones, Pat Bowlen and others do not want this whole thing coming out.
  • How do you trust a cheater to have even given all of the evidence. How could this be over so quickly? Monk has better investigations in an hour every week. The NFL has become a co-conspirator in this case. There are way too many question unanswered. We can't get any details, who was involved, what they did, how they did it... etc, but you can tell us every detail about Tank Johnson's visit with the police.
  • I'm gonna keep yipping about this and finding people to yip to.

Good for Norm. He's exactly right to keep bringing this up, because it's gone away far too quickly.

Maybe that class action lawsuit will go a long ways into finding out what really happend. I wouldn't mind seeing the feds get involved.

It can go away soon enough for me. The Pats have rallied around this and the more it is thrown in their face the more focused they will be to prove to people that they are a quality team. I think the league should have come down harder because they violated the rules but in the big picture I agree with Jimmy Johnson that it was not a big deal and does not provide a lot of help. If people want to think that the Pats won because of this so be it I think they won because they are extremely talented team.

So is Norm saying Jethro:eek:: and Bowlen are co-conspirators as well?

Maybe he'll ask Jethro:eek:: some questions about it in the future if he hasn't already or maybe if he has.

Actually, I know for a fact they personally called Kliff Kingsbury who was a former Patriot 3rd string QB and currently playing in the CFL to ask him questions about it. If they called a guy so low on the totem pole, I'm betting they called a lot of people.

Destroying evidence is the mark of a conspriacy.

It's unbelievable how people are just accepting this ridiculous act.

The problem is that the Pats keep blowing by teams so fans figure that they really didn't benefit from the cheating or that it would not have mattered. However, this doesn't take into consideration all of the success they may have received in the prior years which may be influencing where they are today. The other problem is that there are a lot of Pats fanboys in the media or like in baseball, many media members don't want to see their sport ruined so they want to sweep the issue under the rug rather than find out the entire details, deal with it accordingly and likely eliminate this problem for good.

TMQ had a great rant about this last week.

The Pats almost certainly had taped teams they played in the SuperBowl. That's a fairly reasonable explanation for why the league moved so fast, stayed so mum, and then swept it under the rug.

It also irritates the hell out of me to hear the various game commentators laud Belichek and minimize the impact of this scandal each and every week. It's pathetic to listen to it.

I think Norm is right. they found a WHOLE lot more then they thought they would and are trying to cover it up. that never works. Sooner or later it will all come out. Probably hoping it will be years from now so it won't matter.
Because if all the evidence came out they would have to suspend bellicheat for life and take all the pats draft picks for the next 5 years.

You sound worried to me. They are talented, but if they're that talented, why tape other teams? Why brush this under the rug so quickly?

Arbitrary power corrupts arbitrarily. It could be that this goes to the core, and that's what has the higher-ups so interested in making it a non-story.

If this had occurred in a different scenario (business, government), I don't think this would disappear quite so fast. We've already seen those types of things play out.

They also went out and got Randy Moss this year, and Adalius Thomas, so it's not like the Patriots talent-level wise are the same team as they were during their Super Bowl runs...

They have more talent this season than last season and last year they were close to winning the AFC championship game.

Maybe it is a conspiracy. I really don't know. I am sure if something comes up against the Pats that is remotely similar, then they are going to be in more trouble. You would think that opposing teams are now watching the Pats very closely. I would also think fans in the stands will be keeping an eye on the Pats sidelines.

Why did Jimmy have people go through the trash cans after games in the opposing teams booth? Why did the Giants open the doors at Giant stadium when the opposing team was attempting a FG? and there are other tid bit like that which I have heard from guys like Jimmy Johnson.
Many coaches I have listened to did not think it helps that much after all your dealing with a 45 sec clock or less and change of personell almost every play and it would be very difficult to be able to pick up signs and relay that in time.

Look at the Colts how would the Pats be able to do much with Manning constantly changing the plays or faking that he is changing the plays?

All in all I think the Pats got off way too easy for breaking rules and I really expected a lot more than they got. However I also know that the Pats are a very good ball club with some outstanding talent and that is the main reason they have won in this league.

In the meantime the Pats as I expected have used all this talk as a rally cry for the team and have been killing teams even since the week 1 game. As far as I'm concerned they could put this to rest.

Are we so sure? Do you believe or trust the league? Are we supposed to believe that everything is OK now?

And Jaws said something last night about he just admired them because they were all about winning.

He forgot the part that there is nothing to admire about a cheater - but at least they are Winning;)
