In fairness, they do the same thing with New England, just always looking for that team that's going to knock them off.
I think the problem is, all those guys do is scratch the surface anyway, and they're tired of scratching the Cowboys' and Pats' surfaces. Since they're too lazy or unable to go any deeper, they switch to another team. It's the easiest way for them to do their jobs.

SS: Tony is being chippy witht he media. Held his head down against the Commanders. Eli has alot of confidence. Tony is saying "you guys" and people do that when they are mad. I am not comfortable with his attitude, needs to get back to laughing and joking.

He will as soon as the media shuts the hell up about his personal life.

Did you watch the interview? When was romo hostile?

Somewhat Hostile

Yes, I listened to the interview on GAC and watched it later on TV. He seemed very agitated, even when the questions pertained to football. Again, that is fine, I am not hear to judge the man, but like everyone else, here to offer my own opinion.

He can either fight the good fight and play into the media's hand or he can be like Bill Parcells and embrace the media and show them how the game is really to be played.

Personally, I think he eventually does this, right now this is all new to him and he needs some experience to better handle the situation.

As long as he is the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, he will constantly have a zillion microphones stuck in his face asking him redundant questions. Some of those questions will be relevant to football and some wont. Some of those questions will be outlandish and totally absurd, but it comes with the territory.

You would think the former athletes would object to that, and maybe they do. Maybe they're just given what to say and have to talk on that point to keep a job, being assured by their network that the controversy is what sells, the entertainment is what sells, and that's what they do. If it was me, I would think I'd learn from all the times during my career that I thought "these guys don't know what they're talking about" and model my approach in a different direction. But, they seem to leave the field, enter the booth, and just take up where the shallow reporting left off.

Darn..everybody on this board should be doing that..

hahhaa..

I know I am.

But that's not the issues here.

Romo has to get back to being himself.

He has not been the same since the Iggles loss and the girlfriend at the stadium uproar.

The press is under his skin. He's letting it affect him..we can all see it. He's not laughing or joking, he's pulled back from the media.

I wonder how the front office is really taking this distraction right now with the biggest game in 12 years just a few days away.

This team really didn't need it. And I think Romo is really pushing the envelope with all this behaviour knowing Simpson and he draw attention like this.

If we lose, Romo is going to go from Glamour Boy to Scapegoat really fast in Dallas.

Maybe he likes it that way. The edginess.

I wouldn't go there. But the odds say he's treading on thin ice with all this.

There have been times where I really think Romo's maturity is not going to take this team to the next level. He is only adding additional pressure on things for himself and his team. My belief is he's being somewhat wreckless right now and cracking under the pressure.

There will be some guys in the locker room who will not appreciate all the media storm Romo doesn't seem to control well concerning his personal life.

We'll see.

I think he handled that interview a lot like BP would have handle now that you mention it. I see a lot of BP in the answers to those questions IMO.

I know this is sacrilegious but I do feel Tony Romo needs to relax and stop being somewhat "hostile" towards the media.

Yes, they are asking you questions that he feels is totally irrelevant and very redundant, but he cannot let the media get to him and force him to transform into something he is not.

Like Bill Parcells, the guy has to understand the media game and not get annoyed and sucked into their "gotcha" game.

I don't know if you watched him talking to the media yesterday on dc.com, but he seemed like he was laughing and joking having a good time to me:confused:

It is obviously a case of 2 or more people seeing the same exact thing but coming away with different conclusions.

Tony Romo is free to interact with the media any way he chooses.

At the end of the day, he will have a prime opportunity to prove them wrong.

For Salisbury & Co., it's all about conversation and debate because the need for some controversy drives ESPN's "analyst" coverage each week. It would not surprise me that ESPN has a "football commentator" meeting each week on Monday morning. For the playoffs, at that meeting they discuss what are the likely stories for the week for each game, and then who will "take" a team for the week. Individual production meetings for each upcoming show for the week will have a similar conversation. Dallas is an easy target right now and represents low hanging fruit for this week. Add to that the fact that the NYFG are the team of the NY media market and you have makings of a perfect storm for this week. Next week, particularly if the AFC has Colts vs Patriots, the coverage will look substantially different.

That would not surprise me at all. It is not about reporting facts, just what will hold the viewer through the next commercial break!

That's sounds plausible. I can see it now...

ESPN Producer: Skip, you continue to play the arse and throw out crap as only you can do. Salsy, you take the upset angle and give us some good scenarios....

I thought this analysis was assuming that Jessica Simpson was going to be attending the game.
