IRVING --Wade Phillips said outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (strained neck) was feeling a lot better and "that's a good sign" in terms of his recovery.
As for the new kicker, Shaun Suisham, Phillips said there is "some unknowns I think you have" but is happy this latest decision is over. One of the things the Cowboys looked at before selecting Suisham is his ability to kick at FedEx Field, where the Cowboys play on Sunday night. Suisham has made 38-of-52 field goals in Landover, Md., during his career.
Backup tight end Martellus Bennett (concussion) returned to practice and Phillips said he did fine.
There was some big debate as to whether or not Tony Romo would remain the holder. Well, Phillips said he's still holding.
There is a 50 percent chance of rain on Wednesday and Cowboys Stadium is unavailable. Phillips said the team was reviewing it's options.
The Cowboys will not practice on Christmas Day in comparison to last year when they did. NFL teams are supposed to give its players a day off once a week and normally that's Tuesdays. But with the Cowboys playing last Saturday, Phillips elected to give the team Christmas Day off, which is Friday, instead of Tuesday.
"I think you lose a lot [by practicing] on Christmas Day," Phillips said. "[They have] families, a lot of them have kiddoes and stuff. You take that away from them, you lose a lot more that way than you would having them be there."
