My school issued IPADS for us, but its been sitting in my trunk all summer. I dont know what to do with it.

If anyone knows of any educational apps, that would be nice, since they want us to use more technology to teach our middle schoolers. The kiddos will get their IPADS sometime this fall.

If they werent distracted before...oh boy. LOL.

BP is right. Don't buy service for the iPad until you use it awhile. Many places these days have wifi so you generally don't need 3G to connect when out and about. And we use iPhones at home connected to a Cisco. There are no data restrictions or usage when connected to wifi. I don't even get 3G where I live in the boondocks. I do use it on the iPhone away from home but most places I stop have wifi and I hook to that even though I have unlimited data on my phone. You'll love it. I mean your wife will love it. Once she gets her hands on it you can kiss it goodbye.

gemini, if you teach math or know someone who does visit khan academy. it's one of the the coolest sites out there. this college graduate who was working for a hedge fund created a huge website with basic math all the way up to the most complex math. he gives tutorials and then problems to track your progress. there are actually a lot of schools in the US who are using his site to teach kids now.

it's also good for adults who want to brush up on their math skills

I like toys, but I have never owned an Apple product. Strictly Windows and Android up to this point.

Where do I start? Favorite apps? Tips and tricks? Data plans on AT&T? How do you use your iPad?

Thank you.

Sell it and get a Nexus 7. They are a lot more functional. You will have a better tablet and a pocket full of cash to boot. ;)

...by ASUS.

What are your thoughts on buying the ASUS prime?

I run primarily ASUS business laptops and would like to incorporate the convenience of a tablet and leave the laptop at home on some of the business trips.

But I just can't walk away from the the functionality of the laptop.

I was actually quite interested in it. The only reason I ended up buying a Samsung Series 9 laptop was there are just somethings that either aren't available or if they are, I worry about the quality of that app.

Like svn and/or git along with a decent Python IDE.

If everything you need is available and of acceptable quality, then the Prime might be an acceptable substitute. I believe Dallas just got one so he would definitely be a good person to ask about it.

I don't hate the iPad. I bought my son one. (that is what he wanted) I can say this with absolute confidence. My Nexus 7 is much more functional than my son's iPad is. IMO it's been this way since the release of ICS. With the release of Jelly Bean, there is no question which OS is more functional.

That is a terrible gift! It's like giving somebody a puppy! You are going to enjoy it, but it costs the recipient a lot of money! lol

It is actually going to be fun for you, but I'm not fond of gifts that I have to spend money to use.

Not just math... science, humanities, economics... just about everything.

How can I access free stuff from the app store without giving a credit card? Is there a good replacement app for the stock keyboard, because the one it comes with blows.
