All, if you decide that you want to watch the draft and be online in the Draft Chat, I recommend that you try and log into the chat room now. Updates to Java have come out recently and it would be better for all to download those now as opposed to later. Just a friendly recommendation.

Enjoy the Draft!

My laptop is really old, so I'm stuck with Java v6. I logged into the chat and it worked, but the screen was white with black text. I hope the new updates to Java don't make it impossible for me to use. I'm looking forward to wasting an immense amount of time on the chat tonight :)

If you're on and can read it then leave it alone IMO. If you have a problem later on with it then try to log on again in a few.

Well, try to log in again... Your screen should be black again.

ACK!

Now it wont load at all :(

I'm sure it would work on my desktop, the this old laptop is basically my dedicated CowboysZone chat computer :). It's pretty much all I use it for. Sitting in my office with my regular PC would be no fun...no TV :)

Whatever change was made between the the two times I logged on, it involved a third party applet that asked me to accept a certificate to run on my computer. I accepted then it came up with an error and wouldnt run. I tried again and clicked 'don't trust' instead. Still wouldn't load. Then I tried again using a different browser. Still no good.

I'm sad.

rut roh..

Hmmm.. Close your browser...and then try again.

You can also deinstall and just go back to the previous version you were running if that worked for you.

I quit out of the browser, then tried again. Same problem. First it comes up with a request to run "AddOn Interactive" from "Starfield Technologies Inc." where I need to either Trust or Don't Trust the certificate.

I didn't actually install anything on this end. My laptop is too old to run Java 7. I'm running a rather old OS, but it sorta worked the first time I loaded it up. Granted, it was the old white screen instead of black. I didn't get that certificate request that first time either. It gets to the point where it says Applet Action Chat load, then I get a Java error. Some incompatible thing with the Table row sorter...

This error is when I try to go to the Login page. I don't get to the point where the login button appears. it fails before that.

Maybe it's the browser. What browser are you running?

I'm using IE.

I'm using IE.

I tired Safari and Firefox. But they are both older versions. The laptop I'm using has got to be like 6 years old at least.

also. It's a mac. pre-intel chip

I won't allow Java to run, it has a zero-day compromise in it, no good.

You guys should link to another chat.

Well, I'm not a techie, so my only suggestion left is to do a total reboot.

Oh but I did notice that the chatroom showed you as logged in. On your desktop, that is. It would suck, but do you think you can use that machine instead?

There was a "0-day" exploit for java a couple of months ago, but anyone who has upgraded recently is protected. Just for the record though, 0-day implies the exploit became known today :D

That said, I hate java. But other types of chats that do not involve native clients rarely perform well with a lot of users online unless you have a dedicated chat server. Since we have topped well over 200 users in chat before and everything worked fine, we're sticking with what works.

Yeah, it works fine on the desktop. A re-boot won't do any good. I never changed or added anything on this end. Just something with the update on your side between the time I first tried (when it worked, but was white) and after when it failed. I am running an older version of Java, but have the newest version my old laptop will allow.

Logging into the chat here would be do-able on this desktop, but then I'm in a room without a TV.

I can't blame anyone for this problem. the laptop is very old. Just a really bad day to become totally useless. In all honesty the cowboyszone chat is the only thing I ever used this laptop for.

:( :(

Well, try uninstalling/Installing java again and see what happens. Can't hurt.

Sad that it doesn't work for me anymore. I was really looking forward to chatting during the draft. I can't blame you for updating the stuff. I'm using a PowerMac G4 with OSX 10.4 running on it so Java6 is as far as the support went. Just really disappointed to have had it work at first today, then not after whatever was updated between the my first and second attempts to login.

Not sure the recent patches solved everything from what I'm reading, I'm leaving it off.

Eh. won't do any good. My computer won't accept the latest version of Java since it's so old so I couldn't install it anyway.

Whatever update that was done today just pushed my old laptop past compatibility with the chat room. Really stinks, but that's life.
