This is just a thought..I am not even sure if what I think I think is correct but I am here to find out..

It seems like to me that any time we are in the red zone and we do actually throw the ball Romo always waits for the play to break down and tries to create a backyard play. As opposed to getting rid of the ball on time and squeezing the ball in tight places...

Obviously there are a plethora of issues with our red zone offense..above all else, we cant run the ball a lick down there..people also want to complain about the play calling, which is fine..

but something I haven't seen mentioned is whether or not Romo is an issue in the red zone..

It would help if we called quick routes like a slant.

Seriously, have we thrown a slant pass in that situation all season?

We have so many red zone issues its not even funny. Is Romo one of them? I don't know; it does seem like plays breakdown a lot down there. Maybe we should put Kitna in the game in the red zone? :D

We had no problem with scoring with Romo in 2006 before JG came to town. Our offense was ranked 4th in scoring.

I think the problem exist more with JG then Romo.

I think the routes are too complex in the red zone. We are hoping guys run routes and get behind the DBs or something.

Just call a fade or slant. Those are high percentage passes in that situation.

Or better yet, call a pass play from under center. Stop using a shotgun spread offense approach non stop.

Maybe not telling the defense we are going to pass or run is a good start.

Couldn't have said it better myself, so I'll just agree.

Look at some of the plays we run in the red zone. They all look like back yard plays to begin with.

The red zone struggles begin and end with Red. RZ offense should be a lot simpler than he makes it out to be. What it comes down to is somebody beating their man, regardless of how crafty your playcalling is.

Let me get this straight.

You are questioning Romo for our red zone offense, and rather than have him stay patient with a play after it breaks down, you want him to force the ball into tight windows on a shortened field?

Then come back and hate on him when it throws interceptions?

Your logic baffles me.

I definitely don't think red zone -- particularly around the goal line -- is one of Romo's strengths.

I'm reminded of the play against the Lions last week where he threw to Ogletree, who tried to tight-rope a touchdown grab. Romo stared down Ogletree from start to finish. Meanwhile, Robinson was racing across the end zone wide open, waving his arms with no one nearby.

You don't think Garrett knows this?

So does the defense, and they call plays accordingly to stop them, ala the 1st down play today in red zone. Dez was on a fade, but they helped with the safety late, trying to bait him to throw it.

And on our lone TD pass it was a slant/drag route, so I don't know exactly what you're implying here.

FWIW.

I think Romo has one the highest redzone efficiency ratings in the league over the last few years.

???

Examples?

I don't see that at all.

Thank you for bringing logic to this thread. It was quite comical. :lmao2:

One thing we seem to do in the red zone is throw the ball short of the goal line and expect the receiver to get it in. Witten did today, but why not throw into the end zone?

first and foremost I have supported Tony Romo every single week..so stupid talking out of your ******** ***...

second of all, in order to be successful in the red zone it requires fitting the ball in tight spaces..because the field is condensed...stop being a dbag...no where in my post did i say it was Tonys fault..I am just posing the questions because its one of our biggest issues..**** off

Detroit last week. On the goal line: Play call? Fade. Everybody saw it coming, we couldn't stop it. Why? It's a very hard play to defend, even in perfect position. You'll usually either complete it or get a penalty on the defense.

Us? We don't even attempt it this year.

The fade pass is not exactly a Romo specialty, he just can't seem to ever get enough air under it on a consistent basis.
