Red zone issues - Romo

Detroit last week. On the goal line: Play call? Fade. Everybody saw it coming, we couldn't stop it. Why? It's a very hard play to defend, even in perfect position. You'll usually either complete it or get a penalty on the defense.

Us? We don't even attempt it this year.

You serious?

Watch the 1st and goal play late in the game. We ran Dez on a fade, and they covered it.

Dez also isn't Calvin Johnson either, who's taller, faster, and can jump higher.

Dead serious. My logic:

Dez and Miles should and will win almost every jump ball situation. Most DB's are smaller then both of our WRS. Both of them go up for the ball aggressively.

I'll take my chances. Really the only fade type of pass we have called to Dez all year resulted in a TD against the Jets. Really havn't even attempted to throw him one all season since then.

Its not just Romo waiting too long. Often, they look disorganized before the ball is even snapped.

Examples?

I don't see that at all.
Witten's TD...guys were running all over the place. Witten had to avoid his own blockers and the like and Dez was clearing all the way across the formation going the other way.

I have to think our inability to run the ball consistently hurts in the red zone. Hypothetically, we have 1st and goal from the 5. We have to throw that ball to have a chance to score. Having the fewest rushing TDs in the entire league is a killer.

Having Romo in the title of this thread is a huge, huge reach.

That being said, we definitely have some red zone problems. I'm not sure what it is, but we just can't punch it in for TDs when we get down there. And I don't think it has anything to do with personnel.

Looked like they ran a straight double team on Dez on 2nd and goal, and Romo saw it and threw it away. And on 3rd down, they blitzed that safety. Ball shouldve went to Dez. They got the best of Garrett and the Cowboys on that sequence.
