I remember a 2nd and 18 where he dumped immediately four yards on his first read...leaving himself a 3rd and 14, which is trouble. I think in such situations, it might be better to get a bit more on second down. He's not going to push like Romo. Pros and cons to that. In 2014, Romo was 34/9 td/int over 15 games and likely would have had maybe a couple of more tds if he had played the Arizona game. But what's more is that the Dallas offense was a machine in December that year...avg 41 ppg, with an avg winning margin of 21 ppg over the 4-0 stretch. Currently, the games are much closer, with a 4 ppg avg winning margin and about 16 ppg for December so far. I just think a conservative minded head coach, conservative QB and pass-happy OC can make for some challenges going forward. The "jet sweep" cuteness definitely needs to be expunged from the offense. Less trickeration and more smash-mouth...especially on 3rd and 2. In the nineties it was Load Left and E. Smith for the win.
