Regarding Ferguson

It’s clear the Cowboys are using Ferg more in the dump off game. If you look at Dak’s stats he’s close to the top in completion percentage but near the bottom with just a 7.0 YPC (completion).

This was the Patriots model except they used their RBs prolifically in the pass game to keep the offense moving even if it was just 5-6 yards at a time.

What are you disagreeing with?
That somehow the Cowboys do things to hurt themselves at a rate that is so disproportional to the rest of the league. You can look at darn near every game played yesterday and point to horribly timed penalties, and mistakes that cost them games. You see the Cards RB just drop the ball on his own yesterday just before crossing the goal line? All teams make mistakes, and dumb ones.

Taking the 2nd half off? lol. I see you completely ignored those uncharacteristic drops by Lamb and decided the offense just took the 2nd half off.

Seems you are well practiced in only seeing what suits you.

Answer this ... why did the defending Super Bowl champions only score 3 more points that half than a team with a new head coach, new offense, new RB and several uncharacteristic key drops by their best receiver?

Could it be that being good doesn't mean everything always works like you want at every moment? Or is that just the expectation for the Cowboys?
I remember when Cowboys fans didn't celebrate 3 point losses.

I miss those times.

Ok. What did the Cowboys do yesterday to beat themselves offensively?

Ferguson's just become a catch-and-fall guy after his injury. Throwing to him is like a long handoff to a RB with dead legs.
This is exactly what I'm seeing. He's not the same guy. Hopefully it's just taking time but right now it's only looking above serviceable.

Just remember, we should have never signed him. He is overpaid for what he does......
Exactly.

Half the people on here were *****ing on how he sucks and isn’t worth another contract.

He’s a very solid TE.

It’s obvious Dak has Fergie on this PPR fantasy team

then you arent paying attention to what my point was if you are asking that question.
I am. Just have no idea why you replied that message to me lol. All I said was the Cowboys offense is constantly moving and aren’t beating themselves.

He's jag city. 5 yard passes on 3rd and 10 aren't a positive. 5 yds/target isn't sustainable for an offense to still be good, ordinarily, with other players they've managed to overcome it. Unfortunately, they signed him long term so now they'll avoid drafting a better player, like they could have back in April with Tyler Warren.

he is tops among TEs in targets and catches. he is having a pretty good season and catch rate. but Y/C are pretty low and as I have watched over the past few weeks, it kind of reminds me of NE with Welker. now before you all go into a tizzy, I am not making a 1-1 comparison. so calm down before you go off and I am sure somebody will most probably do and make it into a Dak thing

NE used Welker and those short quick passes like an extension of their running game, like a long hand off. that's what it feels like on a lot of Ferguson catches, he is catching in the flat, coming across the formation or going to the sides and making a few yards at a time, not just going down field and finding an open seam like a typical TE. it feels like a long handoff and he has had some success just getting 5-7 yards per pop. to me, nothing wrong with that, since he is fairly athletic and has some run after catch ability. he is a tough match up coming across like that for a LB. I have seen teams throw to the RB in the flat but we have never been much good in that, although Williams did score one on the last TD against Jets. it was a nice sight to see that Schotty is pulling all kinds of plays from his bag.

I am not as worried about Fergi and his yardage stat, but if he continues this way, its a problem for teams, which also allows us to just chip away and keep drives alive. I am 1000% sure somebody will make this into a Dak thing and he is dumping off and make a whole thing about it. just watch
He's been a pretty reliable safety valve, he just hasn't been the type of guy to break a lot of tackles in the open field, fall forward for extra yards, etc. Fans complained about a 37 year old Jason Witten reception average but even at that age he had a higher reception average. Think it all comes down to how they're using Ferg.

Wes Welker still averaged 11 yards per reception in his career. Him and Edelman were the prototype slot WR (same with Cole Beasley). A lot of fans only remember end of career Witten when he was just a checkdown vulture but during his youth/prime seasons, he was a downfield threat.

Ferguson is not really doing anything special that any other serviceable TE can't do either in this offense (ex: Schultz). But good for him, he's just lucky to be the chosen one in this offense and he got paid for it.

Again, you ignore reality and just put your own twist on it to support an agenda. Nowhere did I celebrate the loss, I said being a good offense doesn't mean your offense plays it's best every quarter of every game. My point is, and has been, that for far and away most of the season the Cowboy offense has been very good, and the Cowboy defense has been primarily responsible for the team not succeeding. That is in no way a celebration of a loss, it is just a expression of the reality of the situation.

What really ticks me off is those dump offs to Ferg on 3rd down short of the first down maker.

It really makes NO sense. Anger doesn't need the extra 4-5 yards because his kicks are short.

Send Ferg up the field so he can make a first down.
Yep, this for me too, causes extreme frustration. And it dates back to those last Witten years when it would be 3rd and 6 and Witten would go down and post up like a power forward in the paint at 4 yards and always be short of the sticks.
Over and over again.
Used to drive me crazy.
