Remember Julius Jones

That makes sense.

The purpose of the post was not to slam the great day or disrespect a boys player, at times it seems we or some fans swing way to the left or way to the right. I hope he is the next great running back. Since I got people feeling a certain way riddle me this does the line make the running back or does the running back make the line?

It is a bit of both. Emmitt Smith set records behind his line yet other RB could not fill Emmitt shoes when he missed a game due to injury.

Read the post - he said "if he continues to look good" meaning continued high production.

And RW continued to start for how long after that game?

If Tanner continues to look good maybe he will take the starting job. Ah, the heck with it, I'll just say it: Tanner is the best RB on this team. ;)

The mancrush I had on Tanner after that pre-season, helmet-less TD run knows no equal. Hahaha.

Meh, we thrive on controversy around here. ;)

It wasn't just your ordinary one good game it was a franchise record 253 yards. Even against a bad team that's impressive. We've never seen anything even close to this type of performance from Felix in the 3 plus years he's been a Cowboy. I would have to say his starting job is definitely in jeopardy especially with him being out with the dreaded high ankle sprain.

Murray's performance has certainly put an awful lot of pressure on Felix who has to be wondering about his future. Much like Miles Austin Murray got an opportunity today and really took advantage of it in a huge way. We'll see how he continues to play with Felix out.

Lets not get too excited all Im saying is Thanksgiving Day game versus Bears. then crash

Haha you're gonna get blasted, but I will say that this game came against the worst run D in the league.

Still...Murray is a beast. He doesn't need a semi-truck sized hole to run through like Julius did. He can make plays work on his own. Julius would run straight into an O-lineman's back if there wasn't any space. That's already a huge difference between the two. Just enjoy the great game and see what happens.

The Felix angle and "the draft pick is validated" are clear examples of hubris, imo. Same thing happened when Harris caught two touchdowns in pre-season and many rushed to declare him the third wideout. Woops. Shouldn't come as a surprise that fans get a little too high after victories and a little too low after defeats.

Ah no, many rush to declare he has potential and might be a candidate for the 3rd wideout. People like you come in and think that is the same as decalring them great when it's just, let's keep an eye on this guy, he's showing some flashes.

Right now, people are suggesting Murray has potential to be a good to great running back and he deserves that. If we can open holes for him and Jones, they'll be good to great, if we can't they won't.

I don't see a parallel between preseason performance and a record-setting regular-season one.

And anyone who thinks a draft pick is vindicated as success or failure in one game isn't worth listening to or arguing with. But this performance clearly, undeniably makes one think, "Hmm, maybe this guy might just work out." There's certainly no certainty in that statement.

Good. Emmitt may have lost his record today, but I still have mine.

Gotta say, I don't see Murray getting starting job with how stubborn Garrett is with his players. I see Murray getting a bump and sharing the load with Felix, while TC sits him fumbling prone butt on the bench.

There were people guaranteeing he would be the third receiver by mid season. Instead, he's on the street (Or did he get picked up somewhere?). BTW, where has Laurent Robinson been the last two weeks?

:laugh2: Bravo. I was thinking the same thing.

Felix is a quality player who will have a role on this team, regardless of who the other backs on the roster are. But if Murray goes on a good tear in Felix's stead, suggesting he can perform consistently and isn't a one-hit wonder, then yes, he absolutely could supplant Felix as our primary back.

After all, it took Felix how long to take over as the No. 1 option? And he's out how long already this year? Felix is a quality player, but this isn't Adrian Peterson that Murray is backing up.

I don't seem to remember if Julius Jones delivered a top ten single game NFL rushing record against the Bears.

However, I agree that one great game isn't a lock for anything, but you and I both know that we'll be watching the running game with interest over the next few weeks.

Murray and Tanner now give Dallas a running game, one that enables them to CLOSE OUT late game leads.

That, in and of itself, is more important that single game rushing records, great days like today.

Enjoy it!

I have to admit, Felix has been a bit of an enigma.
