ESPN has been showing a highschool game every friday night. I watched part of the game featuring those losers from Two a Days on MTV get embarrased a few weeks ago.

I saw a piece on ESPN last year where they showed Clausen at a football camp. The guy who headed the camp had worked with alot of top QBs whose names I can't remember now although I know Matt Leinart was one of them. This guy said that Clausen was the best he had ever seen at this stage of his development.Take that for what it's worth. His brother Casey was a standout QB at Tennessee by the way.

Yep, and his other brother Rick was also a QB at Tennessee. Not exactly a standout, but did get some playing time. So they're like a less talented Manning family :laugh2:

I know this is too early but there is this high school QB, in Southern California that plays for Oaks Christian Academy name Jimmy Clausen, who has committed to Norte Dame they said on ESPN's OTL, one night that he's the LeBron James, of QBs, and I was watching this kid and was like Wow, this kid has a quicker release than that of Dan Marino, they said this on ESPN.

His accuracy is amazing this kid has the makings of a fine QB, in his junior year in high school he threw and amazing 52 tds and only 6 ints if he can adapt to the college level which I think he will he has the potential to be the best Norte Dame QB ever to me he will be 10 times better than Quinn.

Will he be a future Cowboy we'll see but if none of you know who he is then you're all in for a treat keep watching Norte Dame football, he may even start as a freshman.

Since we are talking about high school QB's let me submit one.

Landry Jones.

Yes he is named after the late great Tom Landry. Jones, only a junior has been attending QB camps all over the country since junior high. At 6' 4" and 215 pounds this kid has completed over 90% of his passes through 6 games this season and has 1 int. I have seen him throw at least two passes that traveled over 60 yards in the air. And as a junior he has received scholarship offers from schools such as Virginia and Stanford.

A QB with the name of Landry will look great with a start on his helmet in about 5 years. Until then, Romo can drive the bus.

Just wanted to add that UM added the best qb in this years class Ryan Mallet out of Texas, who is the next Drew Bledsoe.

6'7 230lbs big arm and accurate, but is slow as hell.

Come to think of it not sure being the next DB is such a good thing? :/

As a longhorn fan, I gotta call BS. Well....depending on what scouting servise you look at.

Clausen is not only the best QB in the country, but the #1 prospect overall.

The next pro-style QB after him is John Brantley, who is comitted to the university of Texas. Brantly was regarded as the top QB at the prestegious elite 11 QB camp last summer.

Mallett falls a little lower. http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1475

I knew the guy who mentioned Landry Jones had to be from New Mexico without even looking at his hometown. :)

But just from my amateur-ish eye, Mallett and Clausen aren't even 1-2 in top QB's for this year. From the videos I have watched off of Rivals and from the Elite 11 Camp, I give the top nod to Willy Korn (Clemson commit) from South Carolina. Behind him I would put Jarrett Lee (LSU commit) from Texas, followed by Mallett, Clausen and then Brantley.

A sad fact with Clausen ... he will NEVER be able to live up to the hype that is behind him right now. It's just simply not possible. The LeBron James of football? Ron Powlus was too ... and albeit he was serviceable, he was nowhere near the hype that was behind him. I can still remember Powlus coming on Regis & Kathy Lee when he was just in HS because of the hype behind him. It was almost sickening.

Ever hear of someone named Ron Powlus. He was supposed to be the next great QB. He was ok, nothing more. Now maybe the poor coaching ND had at the time was the real reason, but I doubt it.

Excellent example........

Let's talk about him when he shows more in the college ranks. Remember....Sean Slisbury was the Parade magazine #1 rated QB in High school in 84-85.

Now look at him. :laugh2:

A LOT of HS QB's never make it in the college game let alone the pros. Elway was one of the FEW that were great in all three. Montana was another. Marino was not a great HS QB as I recall- he was a top guy but not one of the elite. Young was not that great in HS. He was considered to be more likely to go to WR or something.

My opinion only. Longhorns wanted Mallet bad and would have had him too if they hadn't pressured him to commit so early. Do some research.

Scouts has Mallet at #2 after Clausen btw.

True Clausen would have to win at least 2 NC to live up to the hype. Don't see it happening.

BTW your eyes are amateur-ish if you don't think Mallet and Clausen are topdogs. :)

That's not just your opinion, it's almost fact. After the Ryan Perriloux incident the Texas coaches have required all recruits to committ early.

Just wondering what scouts have mallett #2? Rivals.com is pretty much the premier scouting service.

Starting Kids late especially boys is not as bad as you think it is. It has to do more with maturity and social issues that come about starting around Middle school then of course highschool.

It is generally not a book learning issues my oldest is 8 and he was born in the summer so instead of dropping him right into kindergarten early we did what is called a bridge class. (My son did Pre-school prior to regular school)

Take it for what it is but starting them somewhat late is not always about sports and being ahead.
