Even Bobby Carpenter is showing improvement.

Same reason why I would welcome Nick Folk back next year, albeit not as the only option.

I agree.

I think Nick Folk can correct his "yips" with a regular off-season of kicking.

Just have some real competition on hand and see how it shakes out.

Even Bobby Carpenter is showing improvement.

And maybe we should all be happy about it, but I just don't see Bobby Carpenter in the long term plans of the team.

If Wade Phillips believed Carp was a WILB in the 3-4, we wouldn't have selected Jason Williams last year.

I'm fine with Carp coming back for nickel duty again, but maybe he showed enough to elicit some trade nibbles prior to the draft.

Tony Romo

Guilty. :)

I would have no problem having him come to camp and compete. Only way to regain confidence is through competition. You lose confidence because of failure and you regain that confidence through success. The ideal that once a person loses confidence they can never regain it is non sense.

You always draft a LB if he is a good value and BPA at the time. I really doubt Wade was thinking..."I don't have confidence in Carpenter".

however, it was a pick to replace him eventually, as you do with most positions, youth and salary cap and free agency.

Bite what I did not over react off one bad play on Jenkins like a lot of people did; I understand young guys take time to develop so I have nothing to bite my tongue about

Miles Austin we knew he was fast what he had not shown was if he could stay healthy and B if he could consistently catch the ball. A lot of people saw his raw potential the last few years and talked about it all the time.

Ratlif um I never saw anyone bash him and I remember people talking about him as a solid good young player who went boom

Spencer again I did not over react on him another young player that took time to develop. A lot of people wanted him to get more situational snaps when Ellis was here it would have probably sped up his development if the coaches had.

So do you have a point to all this and please Carpenter contributed in a small role where he was solid and we are acting like he turned into a Pro Bowler he is gone hopefully this offseason for a Vet that is stronger and a little more steady. It does not have to be a playmaker just a vet that knows his role and could do it better than Carp which should not be to hard to replace on the cheap

He will not be back.

We don't want him and he doesn't want to come back.

I want him back and given a chance to compete.

I'll always have a soft spot for him for two reasons.

The Buffalo game. That was such a great win, such a great moment and he was HUGE hitting that game winner TWICE! I want that Folk back.

As bad as he was this year, he didn't directly cost us a game. He didn't help us win much and certainly contributed to a few losses. But he didn't have that one killer miss. NO was close, but we did win the game. If he had cost us a game outright, I'm sure I'd still be bitter about it and not want him back.

You're probably right.

I'd much rather be unemployed than making hundreds of thousands of dollars kicking a ball.

Tony Romo- Yes, GUILTY AS CHARGED
Miles Austin- Wasn't really sure either way, never got on his case for anything
Bradie James- Liked him since they drafted him.
Andre Gurode- Was glad he moved to Center
Jay Ratliff- Who in here was wrong about this guy? Seriously.
Anthony Spencer- guilty
Mike Jenkins- Liked him since they drafted him
Leonard Davis- Glad he is with the Cowboys and never denied him.
Bobby Carpenter- A stop gap LB that should of been gone 2 yrs ago. My judgement hasn't changed on him.

There is a point to this instead of telling people "DONT HAVE AN OPINION EVER"

What is it?

I agree. I don't think anyone is saying he should be handed the job just bring him to camp and if he can earn the job back then great if not then go with the best man. I just don't agree that because he had a bad year that he will never be able to do the job again.

Heck most of the kickers in the NFL have had just as bad of a season at one time in their career yet have manage to get through it and have gone on to productive careers in the NFL.

The only question I would have is will the team ever have confidence in him again. How will the team react after his first miss? His second miss of a game?

The team would give another guy more benefit of the doubt if he has a bad day than they would Folk. One can easily see the offense turn on him almost immediately if he misses an easy FG in week 1. They might be more forgiving if it's somebody else.

It's important teams have confidence in their kickers. I'm not sure Folk can regain the teams confidence in him after last years fiasco.

I don't know Dallas has seen Folk hit the pressure kicks from long distance to win games as well as have a bad season.

I don't think some unknown will be looked at much different if they miss a kick or 2 early on because that kicker has no past to look back on, with Folk they knew what he could do.

Having said that I would not hand him the job I would just bring him to camp if he can win the job then great because to win the job you got to be hitting the kicks and as he makes those kicks so to does his own confidence strengthen

Also as I mentioned there are other kickers in the league right now who have had bad years and yet are among the top kickers in the league today
