Gotta put part of the blame on Sony for not working with regular IR remotes. No (or very few) devices other than game consoles use bluetooth for media control.

They have a few with bluetooth last I checked, and the PS3 adapter regularly sells for around $40. I don't have one though, pushing the button on my PS3 controller ain't that hard.

My PS3 is also my Bluray player, so It's a bit more than that. I have the PS3 Bluray remote though. The point was to have one remote. Especially if you are planning to drop well over $100 for that remote.

I've never seen a need for the PS3 blu-ray remote. The standard controller works fine. But if one were to get a universal remote, it would be nice to have PS3 functionality as well.
