Glover was essentially replaced last year by Jason Ferguson. We do, however, need to add some depth at the NT position either through FA or the draft.

We have some guys on the roster who got injured last year that may fill in here and there but I think we will look in the draft for the player.

Don't need to replace him. He was a 4-3 DT (one gap) and we now have the 3-4 (two gap) system where nose tackles resemble fire hydrants. Jason Ferguson is now the starting NT. with Pepper Johnson and Jay Ratliff backing him up. All three are about 6-3, 300 lbs. Glover was about 6-2, 280 soaking wet.

Having said that, we'll miss him more than we can imagine. He was a very dominant lineman on passing downs. And the time he had to play extensively vs the run because of injuries he was solid. It was sad to see him go.

You don't really "replace" a talent like La'Roi Glover...you just move on without him. Fergi will be starting in that spot (unless he gets hurt again) and we will either draft someone (hopefully) or go into the season with Pepper Johnson as the backup. If so Pepper needs to put on some weight IMO.

NT for this team is critical...Fergy is/can not be the only NT. We need another legit starter. We will draft one within the first 3 rounds, if not, the first round. It's very possible we reach for Watson and everyone here is screaming, but another NT is that important to the success of this defense.

Dallas didn't want to pay Glover the remaining portion of his contract because his playing time had diminished and it was not cost effective to be paying he and Fergy big money when only one is going to get substantial playing time. Now you suggest that we are going to pay 1st round money to a back up? Come now. Dallas can address the NT depth with a second day pick. All that is needed is a wide body who requires a double team and has a good motor. No NT has been a marquee player in the 3-4 that I can remember it is mostly the LB's that get the glory and the money in that formation. Depth is necessary but we do not need a starter, Fergy has that job.

I don't think you understand how this defense works...Fergy WILL NOT take 100% of the defensive stats. BP plays rotations...and the first string second string crap means nothing to him. Fergy will take at MOST 60% of the defensive snaps...meaning we need another very good NT as a rotation to Fergy. We can not have an undersized NT when Fergy is out...this defense MUST have two capable starting NT.

It's obvious from your post you know nothing about BP's style and how he rotates his defensive players.

I could be wrong but I thought that Willie was Allocated to NFLE by the Boys and tore his Achilles. I don't believe that he was cut but I was wrong once before so any thing is possible I guess.

THe only nose tackles out there in the draft worth anything are Ngata and Gabe Watson. Other than that , you'll have to go late rounds like a Montavious Stanley or a Titus Adams or Jeff Littlejohn, and a few other scrubs out there in the later rounds.

BUt we still have Sam Adams who can plug for 1 year until next year when we should see more out there in the draft.

Nope...I've played as well...you under estimate the NT!

With out two legit cloggers your LB's can not roam...the sepnd their time fighting OG's....

In your defense I sure hope Fergy does not go down...season would be over.
