That being said, he is at the end of his career and we have no replacement should he retire, get cut, or go down to injury. Pettiti struggled this year, and as a rookie, he should have. He was no where near as much a liability as Tucker on the left side, however (Remember the Skins game!). Rob has room to grow at the RT position and I for one would like to see him get the chance.
With Flo coming back next year, Tucker can switch to the right side and compete with Pettiti for RT. Columbo might be in the mix after an off season of strength and conditioning. But as far as LG goes, we don't have any prospect right now of filling that hole. Peterman and Gurode are not going to make it there.
Everyone talking about taking a tackle in the first round has to stop and look at the situation. Pettiti has a brighter future than Allen. Not that Allen isn't better at this time, but year after next, will that be the case?
If we don't address LG this off season, we will be hurting real bad in 2007.

Tucker should be playing guard where he is better suited and played in collegefortdick said:I have read a lot here about our most pressing need is to upgrade at RT, but I vehemently disagree! That, my friend, is a ridiculous statement to make. Serviceable? Allen is the best player we have on our line. Has been, and will be next season.
Just who do you think we should replace him with? How may 10 time Pro Bowl, All Pro, First Ballot Hall of Famer, OG's are we gonna be able to find this offseason?
7 Million is cheap.
canters said:I think we agree more than disagree. He ain't the player he was, but we cannot do better right now.
I would like to see his salary cut down some for cap room.
Doomsday101 said:Allen is not playing good ball and is at the end of his career. I don't want to see Dallas restructure his salary because I think at the most he only has 1 season left if that.
canters said:Allen is near the end, I agree. But he was better than Rivera. I would like to see us find a nice solid guard in his prime, or draft one.
I bet he signs a cap friendly deal and comes back, and starts.

thats7 said:So...... If this is LA's last year, which IMO it is, how do you restructure an 8 million dollar deal for a year? Give him7.5 up front? If he's thinking this is his his last year forget the restructure. I agree with Fort in his synopsis and it rolls right into QuickDraws comment........the OL is in shambles. One offseason would be hard pressed to make it little more than average even if we acquire through FA.
