Osa is our best pass rusher not named Micah…can’t count on Williams and Kneeland is a run plugger.
LOL.

Osa has accumulated 13.5 sacks and 28 TFLs. That is mediocre production for a 4 year starter.

He is as average as average gets.

I probably need to say what I think our front office thinks when I make my posts. Sadly I believe the front office thinks if we were healthy we would be playing this weekend. The front office believes Sam is our best pass rusher next to Parsons and he would have been our starting defensive end if he was not injured. The front office sees that Kneeland got lots of pressures that can be turned into sacks and finally the front office does not believe Osa is a 20 million a season player. His stats improved once Parsons returned. Osa did nothing in Parsons absence.
LoL…I hear ya, unfortunately most of what the front office thinks is wrong.

Top 5 in pass rush win rate this year and top 9 in pressures amongst DTs.

It’s not 1970, the league doesn’t only look at sacks to measure success bc that’s archaic. You might not like him, but he’s about to make bank.

Oh yes the infamous and meaningless pass rush win rate. Who can forget that?

And that kicka** yeehaw elite "win rate" still led to 13.5 sacks and 28 TFLs over 4 years for a starting 3 tech.

Mediocre. Average. Not worth a 2nd contract. Next.

I don't doubt he'll get paid. Teams add bad contracts all the time. I just don't want the Cowboys to be the one to make that mistake.

Yes. Year 2025. When 3 techs aren't supposed to get to the QB. They are just looking to achieve high pass rush win rates while not getting there.

You're embarrassing yourself. Just say you don't know what you're talking about and we'll move on.

Every once a while you'll read something here that will stick in your brain going forward.

-

"I think Osa is one of the most underrated players in the league."

Today was one of those days.

A very, very, very long time ago I used to refute and not agree with things I didn’t understand…I think that’s what I’m dealing with here.

The world wide web is a powerful tool to understand more stats and metrics that create a more comprehensive evaluation of a player compared to individual stats used 30 years ago. I’d recommend checking them out.

I think Osa is one of the most underrated players on the team if not the league…

If he doesn’t sign our fans are going to be shocked at how big of a contract he is going to get. If we let him walk we sure as heck better try and bring in another vet that at least be close bc a rookie isn’t replacing his production.

Sanders is ok…but hoping we get one of the top 50 DTs in round 2.
He is upgrade material. He has some penetrating ability but gets flushed out of running lanes to much.

Remember he has Parsons commanding attention outside so he has plenty of 1 on 1 rushes.

Everyone on the roster is upgrade material. I’m 100% on board if you can give me a name of who will be an upgrade.

I’m not seeing it in FA so who are we trading for?

Rookies usually take 2+ years to become consistent at the position so it ms not going to be a rookie.

Yes, I must get updated on why mythical win rates determined by virgin poindexters makes actual marginal production highly desirable.

Would you learn me?

I agree with Risen, depending on the deal Osa wants. Definitely want him back if he signs a deal with low guarantees. If he's trying to get that "good" market value deal let him walk.

Advanced stats say he's good. However, not sure his splash plays(Sturm terminology stuck in my head) is worth a upper level market value extension.

Cowboys are in a tough spot cause outside of Osa, the rest of the DT's suck. Mazi hasn't really shown much to be counted on and Rogers is a 1 tech DT that spent time on the Bengals PS squad and rode the inactive bench here.

A rookie DT would contribute, due to the lack of depth/talent but agree it could be at least 1 year to get a more polished rook DT at a NFL consistent level.

I think Odigy falls nicely into the "good....not great" category of player and will likely command a much higher contract in the open market than I would want to pay. One 3-tech I've been watching that I think could be a good as good if not better than Odigy is South Carolina's TJ Sanders. Big-framed guy at apx. 6'-5" 300 lbs.

Assuming osa gets 10+ mil easily(17m projected) I'd let him walk.

Honestly this dude is like a bigger osa.

Of course it's free. It's what it's worth.

Have fun counting pass rush win rates over real "archaic" production.

Hey before you go. Tell me again how Osa is one of the most underrated players in the league. Please. One more time.

Do you buddy - I choose to use all the information available to evaluate and you don’t and that’s fine.

Osa had the same amount of sacks as Jalen Carter this year - I think Carter is a significantly better player based off of a broader view of metrics. If you think their fairly close that’s cool.

And I choose to have a brain and realize it doesn't matter what someone's pass rush win rate is on Osa. It doesn't change his actual production. He can have the highest. He can have the lowest. He still gave you 13.5 sacks in 4 years as a starting 3 tech.

Comparing him to Jalen Carter shows how clueless you are and why you look at meaningless things like a mythical and subjective pass rush win rate.
