Reply from Reeves at FWST

No disrespect, but some people have too much time on their hands.

Lot of truth there however it may construed...often I calculate how much more productive I would be were it not for boards like these. Couple of times a year I take month-long(well almost) breaks from the net and it's amazing how much I get done. Chicks dig it too when you pay more attn to their new outfit than discussing with strangers exactly which defensive scheme fits with given personnel.

If you'll excuse me, I have to draw up my mock draft for 2007, 2008, and preliminary scouting research for 2009.

Well, I debated whether or not to post this since he does a pretty good job of putting me in my place and I'm very fragile mentally...

But, if I'm going to post the open letter to him, I might as well do the honest thing here and post the reply...

The great thing about being a columnist is that I don't have to present both sides, only the one I believe in. That's why the column carries the label: "In My Opinion." Yours is a good as anyone's, but next time, don't scold me about shoddy journalism. I suspect I've been in the business a lot longer and know a little bit more about it than you do. You should start with Journalism 101 and work from there.
thanks,

I've never really used this term but I think this is the appropriate time to use the word OWNED

If you are nice to them, they don't respond. They only feel like responding when you take a shot at their ego.

That's probably true 99% of the time. But I have emailed general questions about players or opinions, in no way being rude or ripping them and have got responses as well. To be fair that was only a couple of times but still it has happened.

His reply to my reply...

As you know, journalism isn't exactly med school either. Thanks for reading.

Ha ha ha. Touché.

Thank you for the reply.

PS- I was a history major in undergrad which precluded me from really
learning anything in college.

Personally I don't think his response was that bad. Too many times people like to scold the evil media due to their shoddy journalism, but none of them have taken any classes in journalism.

And basically what he's saying is while Hunter offered a well-written email opinion, he offended Reeves professional sensibilities.
Are you kidding ? Yeah, journalism is a TOUGH subject. You don't need to go to journalism school to recognize the media for the hacks they are.

I bet Skip Bayless went to journalism school, too. Yeah, that helped a lot.

Honestly, don't let it bother you. These guys all have chips on their shoulders. Sure, he was right in his reply but he didn't have to respond like such an ***!

I dunno, the "open letter" to which he responded was fairly insulting its own self, and as he noted, there's a bit of a difference between an op-ed piece and journalism...

Mind you, I didn't agree with what he wrote either, but I don't blame him for not being Miss Manners when somebody jumps on his abilities as a journalist when he's writing an op-ed piece...

Honestly, it would never occur to me to write to one of these mediots when his article annoys me (if it did, I'd be writing that moron Galloway at least twice a week), because I'm not silly enough to think any of them would CARE about my opinion... the only time I've done that was a year or so back, when I read an article that I KNEW had its facts garbled... I wrote the editor of the paper in question, laid out the facts as I knew them, and lo and behold, the editor wrote back and admitted it was somewhat short of the basic standards of journalism...

But again, that was an error in fact, which I was able to document for the guy... wish I could remember more of the specifics now... I also phrased my complaints as diplomatically as I possibly could...

Yeah, it would be rather like some poor schlub auditioning for American Idol, then getting the famous Simon Cowell treatment, then calmly pointing out that Cowell is actually a talentless hack his own self, who's making himself a terrific living being snotty to folks...

What would I give to see that one time?? :D

OWNED! :lmao:

Well...

Actually, nothing like American Idol...

It's really nothing more than just some person irritated that's there's seemingly blind admiration for a horrible HC candidate...

He replied in kind with his comments which were valid regarding the fact that it was an opinion piece...

So, I took the time to write and you can interpret that any way you want...

You had issue with someone's facts and I had issue with someone's attitude towards the whole process...

And maybe you should write these people once in a while if they annoy you...

It can be quite therapeutic...

it'd be nice to know who "Reeves" is, and what he's replying to

I wrote a letter to this guy who writes for FWST...

I expressed my displeasure with the attitude of some of the media people regarding Norv and the seemingly free ride he was getting...

I posted the letter here and a few people asked that I post a reply if he gave one...

Hence, the reply...

I know...It's exciting stuff...

You're either getting too old or need to start drinking more again 'cause I aint gonna be memberin' stuff for ya much longer.

It was a "Vanderjagt might be cut" story from training camp from some writer in Indiana - Hussy or Gussy or something like that - who cited a story on the Cowboys official site about it that was never on the site.

So what's it like having your arse kicked by a newspaper guy? LOL!

Ha ha ha...

Embarassing...

Have you seen the guy?...

Well, like I said, I'd post a reply if I got one so I did...

As humbling as it is...
