Quinn has a 2022 cap hit of $17M (prorated to $11M after the 6 games already played) with $12.8M in dead money. His 2023 cap hit is $18.2M and 2024 is $17.2M.

By trading Quinn, Chicago would incur the $12.8M in dead money (not the team trading for him) so if a team like the Eagles or Giants traded for Quinn, they would take on Quinn's base salary only which is $12.8M for 2022 (prorated to $8.28M remaining), $13.9M in 2023, and $12.9M in 2024.

Both teams have the cap room to trade for him now and can cut him after this season without incurring any cap penalty OR they can renegotiate his deal to lessen his cap hit but keep him on the roster the next few years.

Need a guy who is a strong run defender. Quinn is a pin the ears back and go at the QB player.

Love to have him back but I'm guessing he would not start. I hate to say it, but keep an eye on the Eagles and/or Giants.

Bears Shopping All-Pro Robert Quinn Ahead of Trade Deadline, per Report
https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/10/19/b...bert-quinn-ahead-of-trade-deadline-per-report

Robert Quinn’s days are reportedly numbered in a Chicago uniform.

Jason La Canfora of The Washington Post reported that multiple NFL executives spoke on the condition of anonymity that the veteran pass rusher will be “shopped around” during the NFL’s trade deadline, which is Nov. 1 by 4 p.m. ET.

The news comes after the franchise previously stated that it did not want to trade Quinn during the offseason. One NFL general manager said to the Post that Chicago wants to move the three-time Pro Bowler, but the franchise will have to “eat” some of Quinn’s contract to do so.
Don't see the Cowboys in the market for another pass rusher. They already have issues giving their players enough snaps and Basham is expected back at some point as well. I heard the Giants are showing interest, but why give up future picks for a team that is still rebuilding?

They are 5-1 with 70+ million in cap next season. They can spare a late round pick

That's a divorce that makes sense. The Bears aren't winning anything with Quinn and would like to drop his salary off the books, and I'm sure Quinn would like to play on a contender before he retires.

Chicago is definitely going to have to eat some money to get any deal done though.

He doesn't fit on the Cowboys though. The only thing he would do here would be to take snaps from Sam Williams, and Williams is already pretty good.

If he is a pure pass rusher .. yes, he does fit ... but just like the rest of our RDE's , he's a liability vs the run.

Probably at his best as a situational nickel type - he's a Fred Dean type.
He may have as quick 1st step off the snap as any edge rusher in the NFL.
And we'd have to make sure he's lined up outside instead of inside where his special edge speed would be negated.

Aim him outside vs pass, and he's flat lighting in a bottle.

he's the type that can get you 11 sacks (Dallas) ..and Chicago (18 sacks) but he's also now on the other side of age 30. (age 32)
so it's also maybe a 2 year window of production as that pure pass rusher.

I think the pass rush is fine. If someone is dangling a LB or big body DT, maybe. But what this team really needs is a big target WR.

No surprise at all.......some of us may laugh or mock them but they believe they are for real and frankly, as of now, who are we to say otherwise. lol

$18 million cap hit each season through 2024 for a run-stopping liability? Pass.

This team is already getting good pass rush. They don't need to invest, and give up capital, for a guy who is a liability at everything else.

Small nit, his cap hit wouldn’t be 18 million here. It would be around 12-13 million. We’d only be on the hook for his base salaries.

I wouldn’t bring him in.

It's fools gold. They have survived due to other team's mistakes, but also both Jones and Barkley have never played a full season, let's see if they can stay healthy for the entire year.
