Report: Brian Westbrook Released *Merge*

Just heard it reported on the radio that the Eagles have released Westbrook after he turned down a paycut.

Eagles released RB Brian Westbrook.
Westbrook, 31, was apparently not amenable to a major pay cut. Coach Andy Reid indicated that the move was made now as a courtesy "to maximize Brian's chances of landing with another NFL team." The Eagles certainly appear poised to turn the page and move on. Westbrook can still play effectively with a limited workload, but he's also the biggest injury risk in the league. He won't get more than a timeshare job on the open market.

Can't say it comes as a surprise. He is just getting old and is no longer durable. Glad he's gone from Philly, though. When he was healthy, he was a HUGE playmaker for them.

The heart and soul of the offense is now gone. The defenses heart (Dawkins) left last year.

His concussion symptoms lingered for weeks and weeks.

He and LaDanian should both hang 'em up.

Unless your name is Emmitt Smith or Ottis Anderson (and maybe a handful of others), this is a young running back's league.

Can McNabb be far behind Westbrook?

Won't miss him.. Maybe D.Snyder will give him a going away check..

So long farewell, auf weidersehen, adieu!
Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you!

Westbrook in SD makes too much sense. Might be game over if he can get back to form.
