Report: Cowboys expect Tony Romo to return Week 7

It looks like the Dallas Cowboys had a planned pre-cooked which is what led them to not place quarterback Tony Romo on injured reserve.

It's being reported by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that the four-time pro bowler is expected by to full action after Week 6. With Week 7 being the Cowboys' bye, it will give Romo an additional week of preparation being setting out to face the hated Philadelphia Eagles.

Here's more insight on the report:

Romo should be cleared for further physical activity in another week and intends to travel with the Cowboys while rehabbing from the injury (another indication his back is improving, as air travel, even on a luxury charter flight, can be difficult). He is getting treatment around the clock, including the use of a hyperbaric chamber, and the Cowboys remain fully committed to him as their starter while promising rookie Dak Prescott takes over in a caretaker role.

Initial speculation surrounding Romo's L1 compression fracture had a worst case scenario of 10 weeks sidelined, but he looks to be healing rapidly and the team doctors expect no lingering issues whatsoever.

He has already been injured 3 weeks. This would mean 10 weeks. Doubt it.

Right,, so from the initial thoughts of 6 weeks. Puts him back at game 5. However depending on how the team is playing. They could decide to keep him out those next 2 games, plus the bye.
So the question is, do they it very safe and to the 10 week deal.

Or could they keep him out game 5, and then it is 7 weeks when he plays. Then he will have 2 weeks of rest after one game. This could be a very likely scenario.

It's the best of both worlds. Romo comes back in Dak watches the master after having been in the action
when live bullets are flying. That time to watch will be with wiser eyes even when Dak does come back in
he'll have learn some small nuances that he might not have noticed if he had never played in real games.

Whether Tony returns or not makes no difference. He is at the end and the FO had better plan for this fact.
Do you think they don't like Dak's prospects long term?
If they do,then a plan is in place.
If not, then yes, they better take more action in the offseason.

If Dak holds down the fort well in these next 6 games, he really can control his long term destiny.
That'd be great news for everyone involved.
