The guy tipped the ball away on what would have been a 1 pt loss thereby sending other team to Super Bowl.

I would have acted worse than that! Lol

No one should make any excuses for Sherman's poor sportsmanship. A lot of us here on CZ have played sports on some level. I have. The code drilled into me by my coaches and that I've always tried to live by is to be gracious in victory and gracious in defeat. I don't think my school was unique. I believe these are the values taught throughout the country. You play hard. You play fair. You act classy, win or lose. Anything else doesn't fly.

I've seen blogs excusing Sherman's behavior because he's an outstanding athlete. I've seen blogs excusing it because he came from a tough background where a lot of young men end up in prison instead of well off like he is. There can be no doubt that Sherman deserves respect for the great athlete that he is and for the fact that he's risen above much adversity. So give him those props, but that doesn't give him license to act like an unclassy jerk. I've seen others point out that Crabtree likely acted with poor sportsmanship throughout the game and even before then. All that proves is that Crabtree is also an unclassy jerk. When another player takes the low road, you don't go down to the low road to meet him. You keep it classy. Settle your arguments on the scoreboard. The sad thing is, Sherman had done just that. He had just served Crabtree his just deserts. There was no need whatsoever for any mouthing off to the camera. Most of America doesn't need to know about their being POed at one another. It's better to have no trash talk at all, but if there is some, keep it on the field.

Another thing: Unfortunately on Twitter, BBSes, and other places on the Internet, some people used Sherman's rant as an excuse to spew bigotry against him over his race. That crap is far worse than what he did. That falls into the category of deeds far worse than a lack of sportsmanship. I have no sympathy for that kind of behavior.

I've said my piece. I hope this all blows over soon and they can get back to the game. We've got a championship game coming up, and it looks like a good matchup. Let's hope they keep everything on the field and don't make the NFL look like some kind of sleazy wrestling league.

Yea that was a holding call 105% of the time. But I love his non-robotic style. We would be lucky to have a guy of this nature.

If he's a D-Bag I wish the Cowboys had about 8 D-Bags on our defense with his talent, confidence, and abilities are their respective positions.

Kids smart enough to contribute to a Peter King of S.I blog
http://mmqb.si.com/2014/01/20/richard-sherman-interview-michael-crabtree/
appears he is a somewhat frequent contributor to the site........
..........grew up in what Compton Calif, basically S.Central L.A., father was a garbage collector-------made it to Stanford as a WR, with a swtich to Corner.........not a bad role model for a lot of kids..........

and graduated with a 4.0 GPA I believe

I used to think Sherman was a dbag but at this point I'd love to have him in Dallas. He's probably my favorite player outside of AT&T Stadium.

Whether or not Sherman is a "d bag" is a matter of opinion. I don't see him as such. IMO, he's just a very passionate individual and was obviously caught up in the heat of the moment during that interview. Does he trash talk occasionally? Sure, and if the Cowboys were as good as the Seahawks, I'd want Dez or whoever else jawing about how good we are. Confidence breeds success as evidenced by the Seahawks.

Its funny to me that you have a sig line about how the Eagles have no class, yet you support this moron who also obviously has no class.

Seems strange than 2 NFL players almost fight at a charity event & there was nothing written about it. May have missed it but usually social media being such an animal you read about this stuff instantly on Twitter.

Exactly. It's a big turn off when some idiot says "I'm the greatest CB" blah blah. Maybe he is, but a real man doesn't come out and say that.

Exactly. The guy proclaimed himself to be the best corner and cut down another player on national television because of an off field dispute?. I lost a ton of respect for him after that.

Best corner is also in question. You gotta hand it to Pete Carrol. He knows how to create a great defense. But Sherman having 2 good safeties behind him and a good front 7 really helps him. This is why guys like Browner, Maxwell, Thurmond can step in and look good. For all I know, Sherman could be a great system CB, but I am almost certain he isn't as good as Darrelle Revis before ACL tear. Revis's resume was far more impressive.

They called it Revis island for a reason.

Past tense was the perfect way to describe it.

Just admit it - you don't like the dreads, you don't like the tattoos. He's a "thug" to you.
