It doesn't hurt that Caldwell is black.

But, if a team has a transition plan in place, similar to Indy and Seattle, then no, they don't have to adhere to the Rooney rule.

i actually wondered about that as i was about to post and just didn't have time to look. i'm gonna go look silly over >>>>> there now.

one of the few NFL coaches that i have always had the utmost respect for, not only as a coach, but as a human being.

such a great man of faith, and i felt devastated for him when his son died.

NFL is losing a great coach, and more so losing a great man.

i wish you well Coach Dungy.

I always hated Peyton Manning but I couldn't hate Dungy. I wish him well.

Too bad the Cowboys couldn't get a Dungy type man...respected, knows his job well and gets the best out of each player. He's almost Tom Landry'ish in that respect.

Love Dungy. Great man of Faith, great family man and a great coach who has the respect of his players, peers and fans.

You can't ask for more than that in a man.

Congrats to Tony on a great career and best wishes for even greater success in his future work.

I knew he would retire because he's been flirting with it i believe since well after the tragic even that happened with his son and im sure he wants to be with his family now! I got a lot of respect for Coach Dungy like many have said a true class act one of a kind no doubt!

I am very happy he got his super bowl win in 2006-07.

He set up that team in Tampa Bay but unfortunately was not able to win it. He is a great guy and will be missed.

He's probably more like Landry than any other coach in the NFL. Both were well-respected men of faith with a calm demeanor that broke the mold of traditional coaches. Both were innovators on defense. (Tampa 2, Flex) Both coached under all-time great owners. I'm sure the list could go on from there.

That guy is a class act. I wish him well. I wanted him here as our Coach so bad at one time. We went with some idiot named Switzer instead.

Dallas would have won at least two more Superbowl titles with Tony Gungy.

:laugh2:
